The gym [oh-my-God WHY o'clock in the morning]

With the new change in time, Ben had beaten the sun out of bed in the morning and gone for his run before heading down to the gym to wait for Ender.

He stretched out on the mats and began warming up his arms and shoulders, today in a short-sleeved t-shirt he'd bought in Hawaii.

It was, shockingly, not black. It had taken him all week to find one without flowers on it.

[OOC: Open gym is open, with SP warning as the Tiny Person and I are heading to see fish at the aquarium today.]

"I didn't know you realised that color existed," Ender mused as he padded into the gym. He was wearing... the exact same thing he had last week - no point in buying all that many t-shirts for sporting purposes if you had a military supplying them for you, after all.

"There's also orange," Ben said, "which I only wear when people might need to find me if I get shot into space."

"At least that's practical," Ender judged. Weirdo. He walked onto the mats himself and started in on his stretches.

"Well, it'd be embarrassing if they missed seeing me because I was wearing black," Ben said. "And this is dark blue. It's not that weird."

"It's weird because it falls outside of your usual pattern," Ender pointed out, "So you shouldn't be surprised if someone mentions it."

He pulled upright and loosened his shoulders a little.

"And you notice everything," Ben added with a tiny smile. "Let me know when you're ready."

"Not everything," Ender said, amicably.

But a lot more than most people. He went for one more round of stretches.

"I get very few things past you," Ben amended, wriggling his toes and waiting.

"I'm ready," Ender replied, walking a little closer towards him. "And I'd hope you don't try to get too many things past me."

"Not any more," Ben said with a little grin. "I thought we'd work on head-on assaults today."

Ender quirked an eyebrow a little. "Sounds good," he said. "What did you have in mind?"

Ben laid out a few ideas--slightly more complicated than last week but still not into "hello, action hero!" territory.

"Sound okay?"

"I think it sounds really good," Ender assured him, with a slight smile that was a size or so bigger than 'tiny', for once. "Let's have it."

Ben ran quickly through the choreography of the first attack, then launched himself at Ender.

That was quick.

And so Ender's execution wasn't that pretty, though at least it worked.

And at least he didn't try to maim Ben. Also a good thing.

"Not bad," he said appraisingly, shoving himself up off the floor. "Try again?"
