The Roof, Monday Afternoon
Kate had only returned to Fandom about an hour or so ago. She'd offered to stay in Kansas, to help, but then she'd been asked "What with?" and she hadn't been able to come up with any real answer, so they'd sent her off, and she'd grabbed a portal back. She'd soon realized she didn't want to stay cooped up in her room, so she'd just dumped her bags there and headed up.
And now Kate was on the roof.
It probably didn't seem like much of a momentous occasion to anyone else, but it kind of was one for her. She didn't even care that the weather was much, much chillier than it had been back home. She had her monkey hat and her golden jacket on, and she was good, just leaning against the railing, looking out over the island.
Everything felt calm. She felt weird, but it wasn't really a bad weird. She just felt like the world had shifted somehow, just a subtle little bit. Something had fallen into place and she could really breathe again for the first time in months. That seemed liberating and totally fucked up all at the same time.
It almost made her smile.
[ooc: It doesn't get much more open than the roof.]

To her question, he just shrugged. "Never said anything about dating, did I?" Though, he was...kind of dating someone. It was hard to define.

He didn't disagree about that last part. They worked pretty well as friends but Nathan was fucking sure they'd kill each other eventually.

"What, so, are you dating someone now or something?" she asked. "That's... unexpected."

He shrugged. Apparently, there was no good answer to that question of hers. He'd said that and gone and done the complete fucking opposite.
"Things change."

Well, there really was only one girl he consistently talked about...

"Why would me having great sex make you wanna kill yourself, Kate?" he asked, twisting her words up for his own purposes. "I thought you'd be happy! Everyone should be having great sex. Just not with me."

Nathan figured they both knew who he was talking about so there was no need to say her name. Kate didn't like Caroline, Caroline didn't like Kate and he liked them both in different ways.
"Can't you just kiss and make up? It really would be a lot easier on me. And it would make my fantasies end differently than a giant fucking girl fight complete with fingernails and blood being spilled."

He shook his head and smiled because it really was kind of funny. Two people who seemed to hate each other had a lot in fucking common. "Besides, I thought you'd moved on."
Yeah, he knew that wasn't true.

It was probably the weirdness she was feeling that had her admitting that, even if she was rolling her eyes as if he was an idiot for even sarcastically suggesting it was true.

He nodded. "And what's that mean?"

Even if, yes, all this did make Caroline a little bit less of an enemy.
