Third Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

Really, it probably should have been a shock to wake up in a room you hadn't even seen for nearly twenty years. And yes, it had been a little disorienting at first, but please. Not only was Kate Desrosiers a Fandom High alumna, she had also taught at the school herself, and had visited pretty frequently over the years since. There were few strange occurrences that could shock her anymore.

So really, all this randomly-getting-transported-overnight stuff really meant at this point was that she was saving money on gas for her car.

Having rolled out of bed and boggled at her old room for a moment, Kate did what came naturally. And that was wandering on down to the common room, getting the coffee machine going, and getting started on a batch of muffins. If memory served her right, the smell would be enough to lure people in. She was kind of curious as to who all she'd see.

And if there was anyone in particular she was hoping to run into... Well, you would not be the first to know.

[ooc: You can't possibly think this could be anything other than open.]

Chalk up someone else who hadn't been thrown very much by winding up in his dorm room, though in Dolf's case, it was years of time-travel experience.

It could get a bit inconvenient; you never knew when someone was going to park an ox cart somewhere.

So he'd simply padded out of his room and started looking for a common room to feed him, and look, there he was. "Koffie?" he asked, blinking the sleep out of his eyes.

Dolf squinted once; his uncaffeinated brain had yet to parse the fact that people would be speaking English here, not Dutch.

In lieu of answering her verbally, he shuffled towards the coffee machine and took a cup. Methodically, he made himself a cup of coffee, took a sip, closed his eyes, and let it sink in.

Oh. Right. English.

"Good."

Well, English-by-way-of-caveman.

Dolf took another sip, then put his coffee down. "No," he said, "No, I used to be here before."

The squinty look he gave her clearly read 'and what about you?'.

"I was kind of wondering if I'd left the machine running in my sleep," Dolf admitted, after a moment. "Time- and dimensional travel isn't that weird, doing it without putting in any work is."

He seemed mostly unconcerned. And happy. He had coffee.

"Dolf Wega," Dolf volunteered. "I was here from 2010 till... uh, 2012, I think? I used to be a part of the reserves. I moved home pretty quickly after that, though."

Add another tick to the tally of "people who weren't terribly weirded out by this occurrence". It wasn't exactly how he'd expected to end up at the reunion, but then, Bobby was used to the unexpected. It came with the territory. And so here he was, wandering down from Sookie's old dorm room to his old common room and who should he see but his ol- former roommate.

"Kate, hey," he greeted, going to pour himself a cup of coffee. Being able to actually drink the stuff hot was... something he hadn't experienced in a while.

Time passed, but the smell of fresh baked goods would never not summon Bobby McCallister. He'd been pleased by the idea of a Fandom reunion - had even talked Jack into ditching his committee meetings for a weekend to come too, and he'd been even more amused by the idea of sleeping in their old dorm rooms though there was a vague wondering where the current students had been shuffled off to. Probably one of those amazing trips around the world that only happened at Fandom.

The woman baking looked familiar, but to his disappointment, Bobby couldn't quite put a name to the face yet. "You've started coffee too?" he asked with a smile. "Now I can't even offer to help in exchange for whatever it is that smells so good."

"The Netherlands," Dolf said, with a grin, "2027. You?"

"Please," Bobby put a hand over his heart and heaved a dramatic sigh. "I know it's been a couple years, but I haven't changed that much." Which was something of an ironic statement given all that had happened in the last couple months, but. "I still never turn down free food."

"Oh, I know that feeling," Dolf said. "I mean, not that I've really moved far out of Amstelveen since I went back, but I've been all over the place year-wise. Where did you go?"

See? Totally normal.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-04-02 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! Bobby was not in favour of anyone being awkward about finding him hot. Actually...that statement wasn't true at all.

"That has to be difficult," he replied, so very much teasing. "Do you often get different urges based on where you are? Or is this purely just a Fandom thing?"

"Well, this feels awfully familiar," Bobby remarked to the other man. Not that he had any idea who the guy was, but if he'd gone to school in Fandom he was bound to be familiar with the food-filled-common-room phenomenon.

"Like old times," Dolf agreed, now that he was feeling a little more human. "Though I hope that doesn't mean there will be any gremlins showing up to the party."

"I like France," Dolf said, thoughtfully. "I've been there on vacation a lot. Whereabouts did you live?"
