Quinn didn't mind prom ticket-selling duty, even if the prom court ballot was a sore reminder of Fandom's utterly insane policy of limiting Prom Queen status to seniors only.

It was like they wanted Quinn to be miserable, or at least to be old and gray before she got a tiara of her own.

Still, she'd paste on a smile as she sat at the table and flipped through the prom issue of YM. It was lobbying for next year; she had to at least pretend to be gracious.

As though Puck was going to (a) skip out on voting for Kate and his roommate, since he couldn't like, vote for himself and Quinn, or more importantly (b) ensure that they were going to this thing together.

He wandered over, snagging a ballot and looking over the names. "They don't even have court stuff for juniors?" he asked, frowning. "I mean, princess'd be better for you than nothing at all, right?"

"Probably that Tara girl would win again anyhow, like she did at homecoming," Quinn said ruefully. "It's fine. I'll spend next year campaigning for us."

"At home," she added -- because this was somehow consoling -- "you know we'd totally win. Finn was still dating the incredible singing midget last I heard, so he's out, and no one can beat me."

Possibly because no one else cared as much.

"Is he still doing the sports thing?" he asked, a touch worriedly. His Finn was, but he also hadn't heard anything about that Rachel chick, either. Which either meant Finn was hiding the fact that his taste had taken a sudden turn for the short and annoying, or reality was safely plodding along at home. "Or is she taking that from him, too, along with all his joy and popularity?"

"Yeah, he was starting line-up on the basketball team," Quinn said, a touch of gratitude in her voice. "At least that much stayed normal. Is your Finn still dating me?"

"Weirdly enough, I haven't actually talked to him about you recently," Puck admitted, looking a little sheepish. "He doesn't exactly get the whole alternate-universes thing a hundred percent of the time, and since I think he is still dating you, it'd be kind of weird to be all 'So I'm seeing a different version of Quinn, how's yours doing?'"

He thought, anyway. Though there was also a very Puck part of his brain that was curious as to whether he could somehow get both Quinns in the same place at once, without Finn involved....

Quinn looked distinctly uncomfortable at that. She'd kind of talked around Puck's name a lot lately with people from home, too. Possibly more than she would have if she'd been dating someone from a totally different universe.

"I get it," she admitted. "I didn't exactly post a Facebook status about how in 20 years we're married with kids. No need to break anybody's brain."

"Or give anyone ideas," he added, glancing furtively at her midsection. "I'll break the news to him at some point, I'm sure, but I might wait until he's dating our version of the musical munchkin. Assuming he does, though seriously, I'm curious about what kind of close-head injury he must've had to think that's a good idea. She's way less hot than you. Like, waaaaay less."

"I think she did some weird voodoo to him," Quinn speculated, then gave Puck a flirty look that was only a little bit calculated. "But you know what? I am way, way, way better off. Maybe I should thank her."

"Don't, it'll go to her head and she'll think she can, like, talk to you regularly without someone throwing something wet and cold at her," Puck replied, shaking his head. "By the way, this prom thing is something we're going to, right?"

Romance wasn't dead. See?

"Um, duh," Quinn said, squaring her jaw. "It's prom. We're dating. It's not even a question. Red flower, please, and I can get a hotel room with my discount if you want."

Wait, was this Quinn admitting she wanted to spend the night after prom with Puck? It ... might actually be.

"That's my favorite thing you've ever said," Puck decided, staring at her wide-eyed. "Yes, I want. And I'll get a red flower. Red tie for me too, you think?"

Life was easy as a dude.

"Red looks good on you," Quinn answered, deciding she liked it when Puck looked this astonished. "I'll set it up. Just know you are a very, very lucky boy."

"I already knew that," he said, because he knew his correct line here, and leaned in to kiss her because he was generally allowed to do so.

He was generally allowed to because he was really, really good at it. Quinn stood a bit for a better angle and ran one affectionate hand over the back of his head.

He nipped at her lower lip, just enough to tease a little, and pulled back. "Get the hotel room," he requested, smirking slightly at her as he reached to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. "And I'll make the flower thing happen."

"You better," Quinn grinned back at him, equally teasing, and there was this weird jelly thing going on with her knees that meant she should probably take her seat. "We'll have fun."

Even if she wouldn't be Queen.
