First floor lobby [all day]

Even though it was completely ageist (Quinn had taught her that word) and she couldn't attend the dance (unless some upperclassman asked her....), Rilla was in the lobby selling prom tickets and watching over the ballot box for prom king and queen.

Le sigh. Life was a vale of tears, as Miss Cornelia often said. Rilla was certain not being allowed to go to the big dance certainly fell among her life's great tragedies, but she was trying to look as interested (and interesting, in case some upperclassman still needed a date, hint, hint) as possible as she sat there and made a snarled mess of a pattern of lace she was working on.

"You've been shirtless half the other times I've talked to you," Scully pointed out, then shook her head. "But definitely not expected or required."

"It's just a little Chippendales, don't you think?" Roy mused.

Scully blinked, now stuck with the image of Roy going to prom in a bow tie and tuxedo slacks. Then she facepalmed. "Please tell me this won't happen now just because we talked about it." It would have, if it were Mulder.

"Probably not," Roy admitted. "Don't get me wrong, I went through a phase where I would've done it to piss--someone--off, but I like to think I'm more mature than that now."

"Thank you," Scully said in a suffused voice. "It's appreciated." She smirked. "Dinner somewhere first?"
exspeedydotcom: (happy Roy is happy)

"Of course!" Roy said, like that had ever been in doubt. "Would you like to go anywhere in particular?" Lady got to choose, of course.

"Mmmmm, I suppose-- Ching Tai?" Scully hadn't been there yet, and she didn't really feel like a super-formal dinner for this. The whole thing was just mildly surreal. "If you don't hate Chinese food."

Roy rolled his eyes. "Of course I don't hate Chinese food. Ching Tai sounds great. Handwavey o'clock work for you?"

"Works for me," Scully confirmed, and turned back to the stairs, still smiling, then added, "Thanks for asking me. This should be-- interesting."
