So, okay, it wasn't like Puck was Mr. Party Planner, ever. But Quinn had had a birthday and it wasn't like he was going to let anyone forget that just because some people were graduating or whatever.

So, Sunday eveningish, when he sort of figured most people had gotten rid of their parents or grandmas or whatever they had brought to the island, he'd set up the 6th floor common room for Quinn's party. He hadn't gotten streamers or anything, but he had gotten a banner that read 'HAPPY 17TH QUINN', which he'd hung across one of the walls. There was also a cake, which he hoped she'd like, but he had no idea because it wasn't like Puck was an expert on girl cakes. Or cakes in general, except in the way of knowing when they tasted awesome.

And there was a ball pit, too, which he figured instant entertainment, and plenty of food other than the cake, and a table for presents. Puck was resisting the urge to stand near it, threatening, and imply that he would beat people up if they didn't leave something. He was growing, this way.

[and since I did not realize that this party is in absentia thanks to new arrivals, we shall be handwaving the eventual presence of the delightful Ms. Fabray. :D]

"You tack a 'Bear' on there, though," Puck added, "and now it's a ridiculously cute nickname that you'll probably hate forever."

"Oh God," Caroline's eyes went wide, and she glanced around, hoping no one heard that. "It's the most ridiculously sappy thing in the world. Let's never speak of it again, Puck."

"Sure thing, Care Bear," he said immediately.

Come on, it was almost too easy, an opening like that.

"Oh, you're hilarious. You spent too much time listening to kids find things to rhyme your name with, huh?" Because 'Puck' was really just begging for that game.

"Pff, this is a nickname, and by the time I started going by it, people had realized that everything that rhymes with 'Puck' is awesome, Care Bear," Puck assured her. And also that he would beat the crap out of people who mocked him.

"You're a lucky Puck," she decided, crossing her arms and looking at him with annoyance at the continued use of Care Bear. "Mostly because I am in an excellent, if slightly tipsy place, and don't want to spoil things by maiming you!"

"You'd maim a guy at his own girl's birthday party?" Puck asked sadly. "You wound me with your words, Care Bear."

"Your girl would understand!" Caroline said, having no clue if this was the case. "Or at least, I would totally compel her to understand!" She paused, glancing around and then whispered, "Um, well, not really, shh, don't let Jake hear I said that."

She so needed a half gallon of water to get this mead out of her system.

Puck frowned in confusion, because there was at least one big word in there, and he wasn't really sure why Jake wasn't allowed to hear. Unless 'compel' meant something dirty, in which case maybe Jake would be jealous, which was just dumb because Puck would want to watch, in that case.

"I won't tell him, Care Bear," he decided, with a smile. "But she wouldn't understand, anyway. She'd need to be at least as tipsy as you are to start."

"Good, much as I like the whole 'grr' thing, it's less fun when he's actually mad," she reasoned. "And she'd totally get it. She's a girl. We all have a special bond you boys cannot grasp."

"That is what I like to hear, Care Bear," Puck said with a wink. "You just keep right on bonding with Quinn. Just do it where I can watch."
