Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Early Afternoon
This whole not having classes thing wasn't Wesley's favorite thing in the world, but whatever, he'd deal. The effect of not having any work to do was that he found himself in the common room with absolutely nothing to keep him occupied. He wandered around the room for a bit, then happened upon a shelf of books in the storage closet. That was a little random, but okay.
He eventually came up with a textbook. Written in Portuguese. Okay, sure. Learning Portuguese seemed as good a way to spend the day as any.
[[common room is, of course, open. this is me studying. shh.]]

"Hi, Wesley!" Her happiness at having found someone in the third floor common room was evident as she bounced in. "What're you doing?"
no subject
"Oh, just reading a bit," he said, looking up from the fifth page of the book. He thought he might be understanding it? Kind of? At the very least, he was five pages in and he thought he knew what kind of book it was, so that was good. "How are you? I heard you were on the radio this morning."

But Wesley was wise to distract Ariel from asking what he was reading about with a comment on her more recent adventures. She laughed a little and shook her head. "Yeah. How was I? I'm sad nothing more exciting happened, like a party or something."
no subject
"You were fine," he said, smiling amicably. "Then again, I suppose I'm not the best judge of, ah, radio quality."
no subject
"No?" Ariel grinned, tilting her head. "What makes you say that? Have you not listened to a lot of radio? Because I think just as long as you enjoyed it, it was quality. That's what matters, right?"
no subject
"I suppose," Wesley conceded, smiling. "It's odd, I never listened to much radio before coming to Fandom. It seems more of a means to an end than a form of entertainment."

"I think you did fine," he reassured her, smiling. "Anyway, I've never heard anyone else incorporate any music."

"Well, enough people seem to try out," Wesley said encouragingly. "I'm sure you'd be welcome to give it a try."
She was, as Alexander had pointed out, quite good at talking.

"Oh, certainly," he agreed.
Nope. Probably not.

"I'm not certain yet," he said offhandedly. "I think I'll stay on-island at least until July, and then perhaps go do some work in Los Angeles? Or really anywhere. What about yourself?"

"Oh, ah, I'm a demon hunter," he explained rather awkwardly, waving a hand. "Every so often" -- by which he meant once -- "I take some time off and handle particularly difficult cases of nasty demon problems."

Yup. Watching people almost get killed, then saving them? Very interesting.

Yes, Ariel, he really would talk about this all day.

Well, okay, the comparison was kind of funny, and Wesley stifled a little snicker at the idea of Angel being compared to a shark. So okay.
"Yes, it's a shame I've never met a shark," he joked. "I imagine they'd be quite interesting to fight."
no subject
And, of course, to help buffer any suspicion, she added, "But that's just silly."
no subject
"Of course," Wesley said, raising one eyebrow just a touch. "Well. I'm sure that would make them very difficult to fight."
[[aaaaaand AFK for studying now!]]

Finally pulling herself out of bed, Alex wandered on down to the common room in search of coffee. Or anything caffeinated, for that matter. "Reading anything interesting there?" She was curious. "Also, hi."

The introductory chapter was about twelve pages. So. Limited progress, but okay.
"Not extraordinarily so," he said, closing the book with his finger to hold it in place. "How are you?"
no subject
"I'm doing well," she replied, shrugging slightly. "Still marveling over the fact that I've graduated."
