Sixth Floor, Thursday Evening
So, there was this thing. This thing wherein Wesley had been an owl during the last week of classes and had missed out on the opportunity to take his girlfriend to prom. There was also this other thing wherein said girlfriend was leaving tomorrow to participate in some crazy people's idea of a game. The result of these two things combining was that on Thursday evening, Wesley made his way up to the sixth floor with flowers and candles and a stereo and decided to make Katniss a second attempt at prom.
It took about an hour to set up, what with the stray balls from the ball pit finding their way under tables and over to the middle of the dance floor. But eventually he managed a room that looked... almost like a prom. There was one table with various appetizer-like snacks on it, candles lit all over the room, flowers in vases, and prom-appropriate music flowing from the stereo. In short, it was a prom.
Once he was satisfied that it looked as nice as it was going to look, he headed downstairs to the second floor, left a note on the door of room 221 directing Katniss to come up to the sixth floor, and then went back upstairs to wait. All in all, he was quite proud of himself.
[[for the girl! this has totally used up my cuteness quotient for the week, omg.]]

He wasn't a creep, really.
"Well," he said, swinging his arms a little nervously. "I know you're leaving tomorrow, and, ah, I never got to take you to prom."
Those two ideas didn't necessarily make sense together, no.

So there was.

"Oh," he said, pausing. He hadn't anticipated that. "Well. I didn't bother with a photographer anyway," he said, smiling.

And even if Katniss usually was all about taking initiative on her own, she was very conscious of how final everything was, especially with Wesley, and how she wouldn't really get to make choices like this for much longer. So she was a little hesitant as she moved over to kiss him.
But she did it, all the same.

"See? Just like a regular prom," he teased.

This train of thought was... interesting.

Giles had dragged him along. There had been cocktail wieners. It had been a thing.

"And it was lovely," he agreed, smiling. He bent his knees just a bit so that the height difference wasn't quite as ridiculous, and added, "But there's something about the just-run-through-the-woods look that works for you."
