Fourth Floor Common Room | Afternoon | Sunday | May 8

Earlier today, Nathan had shoved all of his things into bags and piled them up near his bed. He'd left just a few things out for tomorrow (clothes, cigarettes, small bottle of alcohol, and wallet) but other than that, he was ready to go.

But, he wasn't leaving right yet. He still had a whole day to do nothing but kick his feet up in the common room and relax. He'd dug out a bag of chips that clearly wasn't his (or was it?) and was flipping quickly through various channels in the hopes of finding something halfway decent to watch. He didn't want to be preached to or bitched at or lectured. He just wanted something mindless but Sunday mornings were proving harder for that than he'd originally thought.

Eventually, he settled on some news program. The broadcaster was some older, distinguished lady wearing a see through top and Nathan was counting the number of times her chest pressed hard enough against that top and made it able for him (and everyone) to see things. He was up to four so far. Who knew news was so entertaining?

[It's an open CR and this might be the last time Nathan's out and about before he leaves. He's probably going to sneak out and not tell anyone and then go die. Oops. Anyway, yes, wide open.]

"Awww," Ariel had to frown a little bit at that. "That's too bad! I think you should stay. I bet you'll want to stay, it's great here!"

"I have to do what my headmistress wants me to do, though," Angelica said, fiddling with her bracelet. "She knows what's best for me."

And that definitely made Ariel's frown stick around. "You don't have to do anything you don't want to," she said, with the firmness of someone who was quite particular on that fact. "When I started here last summer, my father would have killed me if he knew! I guess you could say that I ran away, but after he saw how important it was to me and how much I loved it here, he let me stay. So they don't always know what's best for you; they just think they do."

"Ms. Frost has helped me a whole lot, though!" Angelica said. "I was really struggling in my school in New Jersey, but she brought me to the Academy, and I was doing a lot better there." She was worried she'd said too much now; she wasn't sure how to explain she'd had to leave her public school because she was a mutant without saying she was a mutant.

"Well..." Ariel reasoned after a moment, "maybe you'll do even better here, then, and there won't be a problem. She'll be all, 'sure, Angelica, you stay at Fandom High; it is pretty much the best.' That's how Daddy saw it, and that's why I'm still here today!"

"Maybe," Angelica said, though she doubted that. She was too dangerous to stay in a school without someone like Emma there to protect the other students. Or so she thought.

"I guess I'll just have to wait and see," she said. "But it's been nice here so far in the meantime at least."

"Well, I know I hope you get to stay," Ariel said with a smile. "And not just for redhead solidarity, I promise."

Angelica had to smile at that; she sometimes got picked on because of her hair at schools she'd gone to in the past, so it was refreshing to find ginger tolerance here. As well as potentially mutant tolerance.

"Thank you," she murmured, glad to have another friend.
