Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

So yesterday had been- well, weird didn't even cover it. And today? He'd managed to find the laundry room, at least, and lucky for him they didn't need quarters or whatever to operate, so now at least what little he owned was clean. There'd also been a real honest-to-god shower to be had, and so so far Toby was counting today as a win.

There was still a part of him quietly freaking out about the weird stuff everyone had told him about yesterday, but for now? Toby was content to eat some leftover pizza he'd snagged from the picnic and channel-surf.

The luring scent of food was a strong one for Butters, who had spent most of the day getting horribly lost. Which was kind of impressive, if you considered that it was a pretty logical layout, but once you got into the sixth floor, things got really confusing.

"H-ho, boy," he said, peeking in anxiously. "Is that pizza for everyone? I sure am hungry..."

The little growl given off by his stomach attested to that strongly.

"Hey," Alex said as he walked through the common room door, carrying a bag of Chinese takeout. (Yes, he'd already found the Chinese restaurant. It was practically a survival skill in New York). He paused midstep and said, "You know, I don't think I got your name on Friday. I'm Alex. You want a spring roll? I ordered like my dad was going to be eating with me." He shrugged. "Habit." It also meant he had enough food for at least five normal people.

Yesterday, Sookie hadn't really met anyone aside from her new little sibling, and today, she wanted to rectify that. So Sunday night found her wandering out to the common room, peering not only at the television but they boy flipping the channels.

"Are you gonna pick something?" she wondered, her voice warm and lightly teasing. "Or are you new to TVs entirely?"

Alex poked through the containers until he found the one with the spring rolls, and held it out to Toby. "Here you go. What are we watching? Or have you not decided yet?"

"You get people who are new to TVs?" Alex asked, sounding kind of horrified.

Different universes, clones, superpowers, demons, relatives from another dimension, whatever. Not knowing what a TV was? Horrible.

Fandom was always weird, though. You got used to that.

"Anything good on?"

"I haven't eaten anything all day," Butters admitted, probably to Toby's chagrin, as he moseyed in a little more into the room and eyed the pizza. He still didn't quite go for it, as if too nervous to believe Toby that he could really have some. "I got kinda...lost, and I wasn't sure if it was okay to eat any of the food. They might have put it there to tempt us, and then we'd get in trouble."

After a long Mother's Day call home, Dave figured it would be worth it to head out and socialize. Despite the promises of awesomeness that came with chocolate yesterday, the third floor didn't seem to have anything going on. But he had time to kill, so he started wandering the dorms.

Eventually he came across the fifth floor, heard talking, took a deep breath, and walked in, trying to act like this wasn't completely alien to him. "Hi, everyone," he said in his friendliest voice.

"Oh, h-hey, Alex!" said Butters, waving when he spotted the other blonde.

He may have been really excited about the fact that he could easily claim hey, I know that guy!!!

"Not everyone here has," Sookie said gently, giggling as she found a seat. "I had to check. You could be from 1878 for all I know. What year are you from? That might have to do with the confusing content."

"Well, from the past or whatever," she said, shrugging. "You can't be familiar with TV if it hasn't been invented yet."

"Hey, Butters," Alex said, giving a little wave with his chopsticks and kind of relieved to also know a guy. "You want some Chinese food? I bought too much; I got kind of excited."

"That's awful," Alex said. "No TV!" He was so glad he'd been born in the nineties.

"You could find some sports. Those are the same, right?" Alex suggested. "Or are the sports weird where you come from?"

"Hi, Tony!" the boy who'd broken his brain said with a little wave.

"GAH."

That was traumatized!Tony for: 'Hi, Alex. How are you?'

"Are you okay?" Alex asked, concerned.

Sookie arched a brow. "There's things to do besides watch TV," she pointed out. "Like, some people don't even like it."

Gabrielle hadn't been in the sunniest of moods since saying goodbye to Katniss on Friday, and so she'd skipped out on the picnic -- trying to get a head start on holding up her end of that bargain, at the expense of several pieces of parchment. There were new kids to meet, though, and she couldn't stay holed up forever, so wandering it was.

"I take it there's nothing good on?"

That might be a weird-ish question, coming from a girl wandering around in a short burlap skirt and a horrible green midriff top when it was an Icelandic winter outside. Okay, the part where the clothes looked (with good reason) like they were from a time long before machinery revolutionized the textile industry might be what made the question weird.

"Totally fine!" Tony insisted. "Totally fine. Just... swallowed my gum."

Yeah.

"You mean like video games...?"

Yes, there hadn't been TV in Africa, but there had been weapons training and lions. Lions!
