Exploring Iceland had been fun enough (though he was sure his skin was still red in places from that hot spring) but Sam was really feeling the whole slacker in the guise of a couch potato thing tonight. He'd done well enough with that gig in Seattle, he figured he could transfer it to this place. Yeah, he wasn't the same slacker he was but he still knew how to loaf with the best of them.

Really, all that was required was some food (easily solved by ordering Chinese takeout, thank you island food places) and something good on the television. That was a little harder since there was a lot of crap on these days but Sam eventually settled on some cooking show that made him miss Ramon's mom's cooking.

Maybe he'd call Ramon and Frank a little later on and try to grease the wheels to see if he could get a care package sent out here or something. For now, the Chinese food would do.

"Don't worry, my life's already wrecked." Okay, it wasn't that bad but Sam couldn't help but exaggerate a little. "My wife kicked me out, kicked my dog, spit on my bumper, married my daddy and burned my house down."

Country songs: good for something besides putting suicidal thoughts in Sam's head.

"Well then it's perfectly okay if you take a chance and take me on my word about being adorable," Luke said. "Since you've got nothing else to lose."

"Yeah, I dunno, man," Sam said, taking a deep breath. "I've got nothing left to lose but I'm still not one to trust that easily. I'll admit, you don't look like you're gonna try to murder me or make me some kind of whacked out apprentice but I think I'll reserve judgment on your adorableness."

"Fine, fine, take the safe route," Luke said with a wave of his hand. "Probably save you some trauma in the long run but it's less exciting."

"Well hey, I could change my mind," Sam pointed out, shrugging a shoulder. "I could go to sleep tonight, have an epiphany that you're definitely adorable and wake up with a new outlook on life. You could be the catalyst to an entirely new view for me. Imagine that."

None of that would happen. Ever. Sorry, Luke.

Luke sighed. "You know, I'm pretty egotistical but even I doubt that's doing to happen."

"Then, you're pretty observant too," Sam confirmed with an apologetic shrug. "Sorry, Luke. I just don't think me finding you adorable is ever gonna happen. One, you're not a puppy. Two, you're funny looking. Three, well, three's just me refusing to go along with the crowd."

"I'm not funny looking." Yeah of course he'd latch on to that one.

"You're kind of shaped...like a pencil," Sam said, giving Luke an appraising Luke. "But, a sharp one."

That made it all better, obviously.

Luke lifted an eyebrow. "That is about the dumbest description I've ever heard."

"What, you don't see it?" Of course he didn't. "You're shaped like a pencil. You're thin, like a pencil, but you've got a spongy top. So, it might be dumb but that doesn't make it any less accurate."

"It's dumb and inaccurate," Luke decided. "That'd be like me saying you're shaped like a mop because you're thin and have floppy hair."

"Someone's touchy about his pencil like looks," Sam said nonchalantly. "You got a better descriptive word in mind? And if you say Adonis, prepare for me to laugh in your face."
