Angelica was feeling a lot less skittish than she had a week ago upon arriving in Fandom. Everyone had been so nice, and she didn't have to deal with Empath and Roulette trying to embarrass her in class (even if said classes were very weird). She knew she had to be careful about her powers and making sure she didn't hurt anyone, but making friends wasn't bad, was it? Ms. Frost might beg to differ.

After her class that morning, she decided to investigate the common room and the television it contained -- she'd never seen one so fancy before and with so many channels to choose from. There was some show about models she'd never heard of on one of the channels. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but she decided she had to root for the redhead to win.

"You living vicariously then?" Percy asked, glancing at the television again before he flopped down on the sofa. "Why couldn't you be a model anyway? Doesn't look so hard. You put on some clothes and stand around."

Such a boy.

"I was just going through the channels trying to find what was on," Angelica said. The soap operas seemed the same, but all the other channels were unfamiliar. "I've never seen a tv with so many channels before."

She blushed a little at his comments about being a model. "You have to be pretty to be a model," she said. "And be able to walk well. At least that's what they're saying on the show. And something about not losing your neck."

At that, Percy's hand went around his neck and he gave it a comforting rub. Yep, still there. He thought about commenting on the whole model thing he'd already told her what he knew so he focused on something else.

"Where are you from that you've never seen a television before?" Percy asked curiously. "Like...medieval times?"

"I've seen TVs!" Angelica said. "I'm just not used to so many channels. I've never heard of the ones called E! or Comedy Central or whole channels just about food or travel or style."

She knew all about MTV, though. And it even still played music!

"Oh, oh, gotcha," Percy said, holding up a hand. "Sorry. There're people around here who've never seen TV's before. You just sound like you've never had cable. Not that it's worth it, in my opinion. There's a lot of crap on a lot of cable channels."

"We had MTV at my house before I went to the Academy," Angelica said. "I convinced my dad to get it."

Then she realized she hadn't even given him her name yet. "Um, hi, I'm Angelica," she said.

"Percy," he said, waving at her with his water bottle. "And I've never really cared about MTV. I could never pay attention long enough to get through any of the videos and when I did, I mostly regretted."

Some of those videos were strange.

Angelica knew strange. She'd seen plenty of videos from the 80s, after all.

"Are you a new student, too?" Angelica asked. "Or have you been here for awhile?"

"Been here for awhile," Percy said and then actually thought about it. "I've been here for, wow, close to a year now. It hasn't seemed like it's been that long at all. Guess time flies when you're having fun?"

It helped that time had slowed down back where he was from which just made it seem longer.

"So you really like it here?" Angelica said. "It's been kind of weird, and I was nervous at first but everyone's been really nice."

"Yeah, it's not so bad. It's not a place I plan on staying for that long because I've got stuff going on back home but for what it is, it's okay," Percy said, shrugging. "The fact that it's an island helps."
