Fifth Floor Common Room, Friday Evening

Toby had a stack of pizza boxes with him as he flopped down on the common room couch and flipped through the channels until he found one playing a marathon of the Death in a Fence movies.

One might ask how exactly a kid with no money to his name managed to afford enough pizza to feed several people other than himself. The answer? A few rounds of pool with the old guess-your-weight trick for good measure.

In any case, once again there was pizza and a Toby and a common room, and this time he'd be far more inclined to share.

"On this planet," Jack said slowly nodding as if this made his disbelief go away. "As in... you're not from this planet. And yes... obviously? New student. Because: Cat. You look like one. But with two legs."

He'd get that whole cat person thing wrapped up in his head any minute now.

"It was a bit of a shock for me when I first got to Fandom," said Lion-o, not at all surprised by the reaction he was getting. "I didn't know when I got there that all the other students would be human. I'd never seen so many of them in one place! And yes, I'm not from this planet. I'm originally from a world called Thundera."

"Thundera," Jack echoed. "So is that... like a local solar system to us or waaay out there?"

"It must have been pretty far away, though I didn't exactly pay attention to the journey," said Lion-o. "Of course, when portals are involved, it can be tough to tell how far you've traveled."

"Portals. Right. There'd have to be portals," Jack said running his hand over his head and letting out a sigh. "Interesting. Very weird but interesting.

"They can be kind of annoying when they pop out of nowhere, but they're pretty handy. It's the only way I know of to get to my new home planet," said Lion-o. "But for now, you may want to avoid them. Also, there's a locker that you should probably avoid. It's #327. People tend to fall in and get lost for days."

"Well sure," Jack said shaking his head in disbelief. "There'd have to be a vortex thingy in a locker here. Really?"

That can't be good.

"I got to experience it for myself last summer," said Lion-o. "It took me at least a weekend to figure out the way back. At least it didn't drop me off anywhere unpleasant."

"Where does it put you exactly?" Jack asked. "Another part of the island? Oklahoma?"

"If it was the island, it was a part that I'd never seen before," said Lion-o. "I didn't recognize anything there. Maybe I'll find it again one day."
