The Roof, Sunday Evening

Sure, it was a bit chilly out despite being May. But that wasn't going to stop Tony from going up to the roof for emo brooding thoughtful contemplation. Like you do when you were a teenager in Fandom.

On the plus side, the sky was positively filled with stars with no light pollution to keep them from being seen. It was kinda cool if you asked him.

[[Open like a roof is!]]

"Oh, wow! There's a roof!"

It looked like someone discovered the door at the top of the stairs and finally got over his concerns that he would be opening it up and discovering something....

...well, let's just say, it sometimes paid to be carefully opening doors in Butters' experiences. But he rather liked where this one lead him.

"Oh, hi!" Butters laughed a little when he noticed that someone was actually there out on the roof. "And, yeah, that's me! I'm Butters. I live down in 216, and I'm from South Park, Colorado."

"Well, hey, there, Tony," said Butters, taking in a deep breath of the crisp night air and looking fondly out at the view from above. "Do you live up here?"

Hey, it was possible!

Butters nodded a little. "Yeah," he said, "but the view sure is nice. Not nice enough to live out here in the winter, probably, but still. Real nice up here."

Of course not.

"Really?" asked Butters, who then looked around.

"Where?"

"Were you brooding, Tony?" Butters asked, frowning a little and starting to play with his fingers nervously. "I...I didn't interrupt you, did I?"

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, good," said Butters, finding both relief and a place to sit. "I'd feel bad about interuptin' your brooding session, but not nearly as bad as knowin' you were just up here brooding like some fruity little Goth."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, sure," said Butters. "You know. Fruity little Goths. All they do is...is sit around and drink coffee and smoke cigarettes and wear black and talk about how much pain the world is and how...how they can never be happy and that their souls are just...just deep dark abysses of darkness that will, well, always be dark. I just don't get it. How can...how can anyone be that sad about life? Because even when life seems really, really crappy, it's probably only crappy for a little while, and it'll get better again real soon."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, good," said Butters, nodding with satisfaction. "Otherwise, I'm not sure we could really be friends, Tony, which would be sad, 'cause you seem pretty cool so far."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"N-no, not really," Butters admitted. "Just a few. And sometimes Stan."

[identity profile] geewhizfellas.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, hamburgers," said Butters sighing. He shook his head. "I sure hope I can avoid them, then, but so far I don't think I've met any. Unless they're really good at hidin' it."

Toby was bored, and restless, and eventually that restlessness led him up to the roof. Not for brooding, exactly, this island had... pretty much been one of the best things to happen to him in a long time. But just- to think about things. Like whether he ought to call Ray and let him know where he was.

"Whoa," yeah, he'd noticed those stars too. And they were distracting enough that he didn't even immediately register the persence of another person on the roof.

Startled, Toby glanced over at the source of the voice. It wasn't that often people managed to get the drop on him, what with the whole telepath thing. "Amazing. I've never seen anything like it," he replied honestly.
