Second Floor Common Room [Evening]

Ramona had flung herself onto a couch in the common room, in the interest of actually being social. Now, granted, while she had the television tuned to reruns of Rescued by the Alarm -- because who didn't love reliving the early nineties? Such large phones! -- she did have her nose buried in a book as she kept half an ear on the TV.

Look, the last Barry Plodder movie was coming out in a matter of like, a week, and while she wasn't a super-fan or anything, she had to try and remember exactly what happened when those kids weren't just walking around in the woods all the time. That was all they seemed to do for like, half that book. So she was refreshing herself on the events that took place in the latter half of the book, because she didn't want to be caught off-guard again like she had when she saw the last movie and that cute goblin thing had bit it.

[totally open, omg. I am totally watching SBtB right now, too.]

Oh, Ramona took a nose dive in Caroline's estimation with speed for that dig on her hair. Granted, she didn't have much lower to go.

"No, mine's all natural, ever since a terrible incident in the seventh grade. Suffice to say red is not my color. You're lucky the punk thing suits you. I never thought food dye would work for anyone."

"Oh, and what thing is that?" Caroline crossed her legs, reminding herself that her shoes (http://cdn.is.bluefly.com/mgen/Bluefly/prodImage.ms?productCode=314602801&width=340&height=408) were awesome and no matter what this girl said she was not going to make any comments about ripping out her throat because she was better than that.

Caroline maybe didn't think it could possibly be a nice thing.

"I'm not that girly." Her nose crinkled at the suggestion, even if it wasn't mean per se. "It's not like I wear pink every day, I just like my clothes and shoes and things to be nice. You're just as girly as I am changing your hair all the time." So her clothes weren't quite like Caroline's, shh. "That's as much effort as curling it."

"This is about as chill as I get, insult or no," Caroline told her. "Though I am curious to know, do you match your wardrobe to your hair?"

"Well, there's always coordination." Oh how Caroline lived for the color wheel. "But yeah, see, I would feel so limited in my formal wear selections if my hair was pink, not that we do that sort of thing here a lot." She so missed getting dressed up for big Founders parties some days.

"Three dances in seven months," Caroline pointed out. "Uh, no. My town had some awesome event like, every week. Not always for dancing, but a good excuse to dress up. Aww, I bet you did," she said, completely sincere. "I was...yeah prom sucked. I'm ready for the next dance."

"I did! It was tragic," she agreed enthusiastically before sighing and sitting back against the sofa deciding to share a bit of her story with Ramona. "I'm surprised you don't know. See, I was super awesome and very typically me the day before prom. That was back when I told this guy I had been sleeping with - my roommate, in fact- that I wasn't in love with him. He didn't take my admission well. I didn't take his storming out well. I showed at prom long enough to get drunk and act like an idiot. Totally sucked."

"I'm sure he does," Caroline sighed, wondering just how differently he told it. "Yeah, radio clued me in to how devastated he was. Though I think it's fair to say you were the one screwing him at that point, not me. But hey, Nate's a big boy. If I hadn't told him I wasn't in love with him, I probably never would've figured out he was that into me. Glad he found the cure."

"You know, I shouldn't have to defend myself to you, but you make it sound like I kicked a puppy. Sure it goes against popular belief, but I wasn't trying to hurt him. He's my friend and we had fun together, but we weren't exactly meant to be." At least judging by the amount of time they spent fighting. "Shouldn't you be thrilled things ended between us? I know you slept with him before me. I wasn't surprised you were waiting for him after."

"Whatever," Caroline shook her head, glaring at Ramona's book but continuing anyway. "He would've preferred if I'd just pretended nothing had happened and gone back to fighting and fucking with him and ended up completely miserable and hating him for it. I never lied. But sure, I guess telling the truth is bitchy now."

"Wow, it's so nice to be told how I feel," Caroline replied her hand pressed to her chest as she smiled fakely, so glad Ramona had clarified this for her. "I think that's what was missing in my life. You should charge for that service Mona, but leave the judgement as a bonus, okay? People like a little something extra with purchase." She winked, getting to her feet.

"God, if I didn't think I'd end up with a disease, I would totally hug you right now!" It was almost scary how sincere Caroline could sound. She was probably going to regret this conversation later.

Oh, Ramona was just so cool. "Thanks. I'm glad the office took pity on me." Her smile remained as she walked off to find something in the fridge.

Food was important right now as it would stop that urge to give Ramona a reason to need to defend herself.
