Second Floor Common Room [Evening]

Ramona had flung herself onto a couch in the common room, in the interest of actually being social. Now, granted, while she had the television tuned to reruns of Rescued by the Alarm -- because who didn't love reliving the early nineties? Such large phones! -- she did have her nose buried in a book as she kept half an ear on the TV.

Look, the last Barry Plodder movie was coming out in a matter of like, a week, and while she wasn't a super-fan or anything, she had to try and remember exactly what happened when those kids weren't just walking around in the woods all the time. That was all they seemed to do for like, half that book. So she was refreshing herself on the events that took place in the latter half of the book, because she didn't want to be caught off-guard again like she had when she saw the last movie and that cute goblin thing had bit it.

[totally open, omg. I am totally watching SBtB right now, too.]

"I did, and now I'm super jealous you went on vacation. Do I get to be nosy now?" Like Bruce had a choice whether or not she'd start in with the questions. "Where'd you go? Were you traveling for activity or relaxation?"

"I went mountain climbing in Asia," Bruce said, figuring that answered both of the latter questions pretty well. "It was a pretty good time. Great workout, no avalanches. Pretty much everything I could have hoped for."

"Damn, Bruce. That is some seriously hardcore vacationing," Caroline decided. "I was expecting activity like surfing. Did you take like, an Everest expedition? Was there toe loss?"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't do Everest and I came back completely intact. Sorry to disappoint you," Bruce said. "But I did climb some of the smaller mountains. I think I'll save Everest for when I have a little more experience."

"Oh come on, like I'd hope for you to get hurt, Bruce," Caroline tsked. "I've never heard of any other mountains and everything I've seen on TV about Everest involved people losing pieces of their body in the attempt. See? I totally support the waiting thing. Though I'm not sure I'd label that as a vacation."

"I admit, I have a particular definition of 'fun,'" Bruce said. "But you have to admit, conquering mountains beats introducing yourself to the class three times in a week."

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Caroline laughed since Bruce made an excellent point. "Oh man, I've started just offering up more than they ask for just to see if anyone notices. So far, not so much. Of course, I have four classes this session, plus I have to take these distance learning things for language and literature and ugh, I want a real summer vacation now. But one with ocean and ninety degree temperatures."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"What kinds of things have you been sharing with the class exactly?" Bruce asked.

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, today I shared my title," Caroline recalled, smiling because the pony had not been at all interested, though who could blame her when she was both equine and possible high on crack. "And yesterday we were lying, so I didn't get the opportunity. Monday I told the winter sports class - oh you should be in that, mister mountain climber - that I'm a former cheerleader and possibly ruined my reputation with the instructor, so we'll see how all this oversharing goes."

"Sounds like you're off to a great start," Bruce said. "But that's not for me. I'm still keeping my introductions nice and basic."

"Right, Bruce Wayne, senior, not telling you jack shit," she said in her best (incredibly terrible) impersonation. All she did was lower her voice to try and sound like a guy. "Is that to keep people away, or make them work to know you?"

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"If they want to get to know me, I'm pretty easy to find outside of class," Bruce pointed out. "I just don't want to take away from their time to share."

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess that's true enough," she agreed. "Maybe I don't see why anyone would want to hang out with me based on my class year. Especially when they hear I'm seventeen." Because it made her sound stupid for a near-junior.

"You could always follow up by explaining why you're a seventeen year old incoming junior," Bruce suggested.

"Yes, but who would say, 'Ooh, it's that creepily old girl with the fantastic legs! Let's go ask her why so creepy!' Okay, and I added in the leg thing, but they should totally think that, too." Besides, it wasn't like they wanted to know she was a vampire.

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
"If I compliment your legs, will you tell me why you're so creepy?" Bruce asked. He was possibly starting to get curious about it, yes.

"I think I'd be willing to share," she said, laughing at how he put it. "But only if you keep calling me creepy."
