Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday afternoon

Well, it seemed the television didn't hate Bruce nearly as much as it normally did today. He would have liked to have watched that one prison movie, or even some soccer. Instead, it gave him the Yule Log, which was at least appropriate given the temperature. And that was better than one of the movie channels airing a marathon of the sparkling vampire movies.

Considering the show and the weather, Bruce felt it was only appropriate to spend a little time making some hot cocoa (with, yes, plenty for everyone). He didn't need a butler to do it or anything.

[OOC: I actually have a day free of work crushing my soul, so open CR!]

"Eh, I grew up in Northern Montana. This doesn't bother me," she said with an easy smile. "But still, warm and delicious is always good when it's cold."

"I burn off enough calories with - other things," Mercy said, narrowly avoiding saying shifting. "So, I don't worry much. This place here is actually ideal. I can't possibly eat all of what I make so I usually give bunches away or end up with a freezer full of cookies and brownies and stuff."

"I bet," Mercy said, thinking quickly. "Well, you may have seen how fast I run. You don't get that fast just sitting around all day."

No, you got that fast by being a walker and having enhanced speed. But still, she did spend a fair amount of time working out. She still wasn't anywhere near as strong as a werewolf so she needed all the advantage she could get.

"I'm not quite that bad," Mercy said with a grin. But back home she could have done the same thing.

Mercy laughed, adding in the wet ingredients and beginning to mix everything up. "Well, if you're ever looking for a running partner, I can guarantee I won't slow you down."

"Yeah, I'm a bit of an early bird, despite myself," Mercy admitted. "Doesn't mean I'm always up and out, but I'm usually up at least."

She poured the mixture into the buttered pan, stuck it in the oven and set the timer. Then she started on the washing up. "There. brownies in no time."

"And there's some sort of party thing at Caritas tonight," Mercy pointed out. "People are probably getting ready for that."

Mercy nodded. "Yeah. Not exactly my thing, though it would be a way to kill an evening."

She dried the last bowl and came back to sit in one of the comfy chairs with her hot chocolate.

"Really?" Mercy said, curling her feet underneath herself and getting comfy. "Like what?"

"Ah," Mercy said, looking down. "Already had one of those without the help of karaoke. Back home."

Mercy shook her head. "One was more than enough for me, thanks. I don't need any more of that sort of thing. I lost my home and the guy I loved. And found out my mom had a whole other family."

She shook her head. "And ended up here."

"Getting sent here ended up being the best thing that had happened to me in a while," Mercy admitted. "Makes losing my home a little easier to take. At least I'm -" not considered a freak? Then she'd have to explain. " - welcome here."
