Laundry Room - Saturday Evening

Bobby loved Fandom. There was absolutely no doubt about that. He loved the people who came from all over and the fact that a lot of them liked studying and learning stuff as much as he did. He especially loved not being called a geek and a nerd by the other students every day.

But sometimes what he liked the most was that his big brother was all his at times when he'd never ever have been caught spending time with his kid brother. Like doing laundry and studying for their online classes on a Saturday night. Bobby thought it was the best way to spend a Saturday evening ever, but he also knew that Jack would completely disagree.

It made him feel kind of selfish sometimes since Jack had come to Fandom so Bobby could go, but he liked it anyway.

He stared at his French homework again. Enjoying conjugating the pluperfect tense was nerdy even beyond Bobby's ken and today, he couldn't even pretend to keep his mind on it.

"Hey, Jack? What do you think about high heels?"

[OOC: Laundry room open for all, and Jack modded with gracious permission.]

Jack tossed a handful of shirts into the washer and glanced over at Bobby. "Please tell me this isn't a new phase you're going through."

There were no words for the relief Jack felt. Mom was supposed to deal with things like that. He shrugged. "They make their legs look good. Why?"

"Girls do whatever girls want to do. Where did the high heels question come from?"

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"The answer is always 'they look great' and an impressed look."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"What else would they be doing?"

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Teachers govern the school. Student council acts as unpaid help. What do you think should be done?"

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"No, they want to get elected and planning dances gets you elected."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"They're kids, Bobby. Not everyone is as serious about saving the world as you are."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"No, it's not," Jack admitted. "But most kids weren't raised by an activist. They just want to have dances and parties and pep rallies and talk about what they're going to wear and who's going with who. That's not that weird either. Isn't there a club fair coming up? Why don't you start one? Then you don't have to deal with the politics. They don't even mind nerds here, so you won't get beaten up like you would have with that space club idea."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"No, you'd end up getting voted against the whole time and nothing would get done. You can't force people to save the world, Bobby."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Why would here be any different? It's still a high school."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Jack felt bad for Bobby. He moved to place a hand on Bobby's shoulder. "Run your club. Maybe some of the soldiers and princes will show up. Talk to people. You're getting better at that. Tell them what you're telling me. They'll probably think you're an insufferable geek with no hope of saving, but what else is new?"

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
He hesitated. "That's not really my thing..."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Jack rolled his eyes. This was never going to end. "I'll think about it."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Whatever keeps you busy. Speaking of which, homework."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Math." Jack was clearly unimpressed by the work. "Boring."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Calc. It's only exercises for homework. Have you told mom about classes yet?"

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Calculus is not interesting."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm impressed. You're learning."

[identity profile] notlikebobby.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
"How else are you gonna learn?"
