Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday night

While the student council races seemed to be starting up, Bruce had done his best to ignore them as he went about the day. It wasn't easy - there was a cupcake waiting for him this morning, then posters on the way to the gym and even some in the bathroom. But for the most part, he just spent the day training as much as he could while ignoring everything else going on.

But doing that all day led to some exhaustion, and even Bruce needed a break. The television seemed to be taunting him a little, though, as it showed episodes of Hoarders. Yes, yes, he had an area in a hidden cave where he was keeping some personal trophies from his time in Fandom, including things that had virtually no significance, even to him. That didn't mean he was a hoarder, A&E. It just meant that he was nostalgic.

He could stop any time he wanted. And he would, too! Just not now.

After hearing radio, and seeing her little present from Quinn, and then seeing the posters for Wesley, Annie was feeling just a little down. She had ideas and Sam had been a huge help, so she was sure she'd feel better tomorrow. But for now, she was on the hunt for something like comfort food. Ice cream. Ice cream would be great.

"What's on?" she asked curiously, seeing the TV on.

"Hoarders, apparently," Bruce said. "It seems like they're having a marathon. Looking for something in particular?"

"Ice cream." And just to clarify, "Good ice cream. It's that kind of day."

"Just guessing, but there's probably some in the back of the freezer. People will usually hide the best things once they find it," Bruce said. "I like your posters, by the way. I wasn't expecting to see them in the bathroom, though."

"I'm thorough," she said, and once she'd found some ice cream, she closed the freezer door and looked back at him. "You're a senior, right?"

She knew the names of all the seniors. She might now know them all, but she would.

"Yep. Bruce Wayne. I don't think we've ever formally met," Bruce said.

"Annie Edison," she said, smiling and offering her free hand to shake. "Your future Student Council representative."

Bruce reached out to shake. "You seem pretty confident about that," he said. Of course, he only saw three candidates advertising so far.

Jocelyn had already gotten one strongly worded letter from home this week about 'making the most of her time and doing her job.' In interests of not getting another one, she was attempting to be social by showing up in the Common Room when she'd heard voices and the tv.

"Hey," she said, giving a little smile. And she was distracted by the insane image on the television. "Why does that person have a whole room full of trash?"

"Because they have problems letting go of things," Bruce said. "The real question is why they let a film crew tape them."

"I'm sure once everyone sees what I can and want to do, they'll make the right choice."

She was less confident than she had been this morning. There'd also been one less candidate this morning.

"Well, you have a senior here," Bruce pointed out. "What do you want to do?"

"But what would you do with the trash," she frowned. "What's the good of having stuff if it's not useful?"

Jocelyn gave the other girl a little wave. "Hey, you're in Ethics too, right? Annie?" Even Lucian would be proud of her being polite.

"Not much good, but they have a psychological connection to it," Bruce said.

"Yeah, I don't get it," Jocelyn replied, shaking her head. Mundies. Seriously. "You have connections to people. Maybe weapons." And home. "Not to random stuff."

"Well," she said, maybe a little excited to get to explain, "if the seniors are going to elect me, I want to be a voice for the seniors. I want to hear their problems and concerns and find a way to address them. I want to educate the students about social issues through events or panels, and maybe start a tutoring program."

And then she added, "And implement Senior Skip Day." Thank you, Sam.

"Some people's brains are wired differently," Bruce said.

"That's me! And you're Jocelyn," she said with a smile. She also didn't remember Jocelyn's name from the list, which meant she didn't have to do the hard sell here. "It's good to meet you outside of a class."

"What kind of social issues?" Bruce asked. He didn't care about senior skip day one way or the other, but the future head of the Wayne Foundation was always interested in social issues.

As much as she wanted to, she refused to say that differently was wrongly. Even if it was.

"Then asking why they let their ...differentness be shown to everyone is the right question, you're right."

She'd've loved to be on that list though - would've meant she only had nine months left. "You too," she smiled back. "Especially since we don't have to answer every hypothetical situation ever here. Though if I'd like the answer to why these people on the television collect trash."

"I haven't looked into the show enough, but I hope the producers at least try to get the people actual help," Bruce said, with real sympathy.

"Once they're finished showing off using the people to make money or whatever television shows do?" Jocelyn asked scornfully.

"Things that are important to kids our age. Sex, the use of drugs and alcohol, and other things people might think need to be talked about," Annie replied. "Because if you don't talk about these things, it leads to nothing but problems."
