Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday night

While the student council races seemed to be starting up, Bruce had done his best to ignore them as he went about the day. It wasn't easy - there was a cupcake waiting for him this morning, then posters on the way to the gym and even some in the bathroom. But for the most part, he just spent the day training as much as he could while ignoring everything else going on.

But doing that all day led to some exhaustion, and even Bruce needed a break. The television seemed to be taunting him a little, though, as it showed episodes of Hoarders. Yes, yes, he had an area in a hidden cave where he was keeping some personal trophies from his time in Fandom, including things that had virtually no significance, even to him. That didn't mean he was a hoarder, A&E. It just meant that he was nostalgic.

He could stop any time he wanted. And he would, too! Just not now.

After hearing radio, and seeing her little present from Quinn, and then seeing the posters for Wesley, Annie was feeling just a little down. She had ideas and Sam had been a huge help, so she was sure she'd feel better tomorrow. But for now, she was on the hunt for something like comfort food. Ice cream. Ice cream would be great.

"What's on?" she asked curiously, seeing the TV on.

"Hoarders, apparently," Bruce said. "It seems like they're having a marathon. Looking for something in particular?"

"Ice cream." And just to clarify, "Good ice cream. It's that kind of day."

"Just guessing, but there's probably some in the back of the freezer. People will usually hide the best things once they find it," Bruce said. "I like your posters, by the way. I wasn't expecting to see them in the bathroom, though."

Jocelyn gave the other girl a little wave. "Hey, you're in Ethics too, right? Annie?" Even Lucian would be proud of her being polite.

"That's me! And you're Jocelyn," she said with a smile. She also didn't remember Jocelyn's name from the list, which meant she didn't have to do the hard sell here. "It's good to meet you outside of a class."

She'd've loved to be on that list though - would've meant she only had nine months left. "You too," she smiled back. "Especially since we don't have to answer every hypothetical situation ever here. Though if I'd like the answer to why these people on the television collect trash."

Jocelyn had already gotten one strongly worded letter from home this week about 'making the most of her time and doing her job.' In interests of not getting another one, she was attempting to be social by showing up in the Common Room when she'd heard voices and the tv.

"Hey," she said, giving a little smile. And she was distracted by the insane image on the television. "Why does that person have a whole room full of trash?"

"Because they have problems letting go of things," Bruce said. "The real question is why they let a film crew tape them."

"But what would you do with the trash," she frowned. "What's the good of having stuff if it's not useful?"

"Not much good, but they have a psychological connection to it," Bruce said.

The walls of Cara's room were starting to press in again, but it was too late to head into the preserve, so that left very few options on how to distract herself. "How much does the television hate you today?"

Because actual greetings were for other people, apparently.

"A moderate amount," Bruce said. "It's a show about people who keep all of their garbage because they can't let go of it. I'm starting to think there's a redeeming value to the show, though. They do seem somewhat interested in helping the people."

"People do that?" Bruce was talking to someone who'd kept nearly all of their worldly possessions in a single backpack for the last two years.

Bruce was someone who kept a bunch of unnecessary possessions in a cave where no one could find them. They were working from two completely different angles. "Apparently. As I understand it, it's a psychological issue where a person can't remove an entirely imagined value from an object with no actual value."

The leather outfit that looked so much like Shadowhunter gear - except for the not black part - had surprised Jocelyn enough that she'd just sized up the other girl for a long moment before remembering to speak. She'd almost expected to see a glamour and was annoyed with herself for being disappointed she hadn't.

"I think it hates the people on the show more," she said finally, picking up the thread of the girl's greeting.

Cara shrugged. "That's their problem. Ours is we have to watch them."

She glanced around. "No one's forcing us. You can turn television off."

"Hi," Annie said with a smile. "Cara, right?"

Cara was on her list. She remembered that.

She nodded. "Right...Annie." All things considered, she should be proud Cara had actually learnt her name, even if it had been because she'd considered sabotaging her in Anakin's class.

Lucrezia had seen many other students hovering in front of the picture-boxes, but she hated admitting that they were beyond her ken. She hovered in the doorway, now, transfixed by the flickering glow.

"This isn't a private party, is it?" she asked. The most important question, first.

"Of course not. You're free to join us, Lucrezia," Bruce said. waving her in.

"'Free' hasn't the same weight of 'welcome,'" she said lightly, bowing her head before entering the room. "Though I trust you would make that distinction clearer should you have chosen to do so. Might I inquire as to what you are doing?"

"I don't think anything in a common room is private," Jocelyn admitted. "You should come in if you like."

"Is 'common' synonymous with 'public,' then?" Lucrezia asked, nodding her head briefly at the other girl as she entered the room. "I wasn't certain what was common about the rooms. They seemed perfectly acceptable, so far as I could see."
