Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Afternoon

Alex had spent the weekend, for no discernible reason, locked in a golden cage in one of the island's caves. Mostly he'd waxed poetic about why someone would do this to him, but by the end of Sunday he'd been getting pretty hungry and thirsty. Luckily, he'd woken up on Monday with both the golden cage and the desire to wax poetic gone. After a quick handwavey stop to buy every kind of Pop-Tart Turtle & Canary sold, he'd found his happy place, parked in front of the TV shooting fake people and generally owning at Call of Duty.

((Open common room is open! Alex has a lot of Pop-Tarts and is aware he bought more than he can eat, so he's willing to share! He is also more than willing to beat you down at Call of Duty.))

"Man, this is exactly what I need," Freddie came in, plopping down onto a couch. "Can I join next game?"

He was still agitated from the weekend. He was pretty much expecting an impending beatdown from Sam. He had reason to fear.

"And I'm pretty terrible," Freddie said with a little smile. "So I hope it's not too boring for you."

He chuckled a little. "It'll give me a warm-up to the real beating I'm expecting soon."

"Try, yes," Freddie said, reaching for a controller. "Will I be successful... probably not. Sam has ways of hunting you down. We once played this game of paintball assassin? She beat everybody. She was absolutely ruthless."

"We... I'm not even sure if I should speak of it. But I didn't even mean to do it! I was completely not myself this weekend," Freddie said. "And neither was she, if she was kissing me. That's totally not my fault."

"I'm just so confused," Freddie said. "Normally I'd say it was a bad dream, but apparently that sort of thing happened to everyone this weekend. Sam's just... confusing in general, really."

He started fiddling with the controller, figuring out the control scheme.

"Yeah, I think I would've preferred that," Freddie said, finally figuring out the buttons. "Unless... I mean, you didn't just starve for two days, did you? That would be some really bad chiz."

"Awww man, I just grenaded myself," Freddie said, feeling totally dumb.

"Wait, you don't think you can die that way?"

That was a puzzling statement, really.

"Whoa," Freddie said, taken a bit off guard by such a comment. "Seriously? How did that happe--who puts a claymore there!"

Freddie was not having good luck at the game.

"Pop-Tarts?" Freddie said, a little confused from his weird universe of no-real-brand-names. "Like some sort of... fruit tarts?"

Freddie made a face. "Oh, come on, who can aim that fast?"

"Are they anything like Food Pockets?" Freddie said, a little worried he was missing out on something huge.

[identity profile] randomspanish.livejournal.com 2011-09-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"They're called Food Pockets where I come from," Freddie said. "This is gonna be another one of those things like how there's no Pear Company here, isn't it?"

"Oh, hey, yeah," Freddie said, setting down the controller to grab the box of brown-sugar cinnamon ones. "I know these. We just call them something different. Which is weird, because otherwise I come from someplace totally normal."

"Thanks," Freddie said, unwrapping the little foil packet to grab a pop-tart. He took a bite, happily. "I don't blame you, either. Though you must really like these if they're your go-to after two days without food."

"If it was me," Freddie said, between chewing his pop-tart, "I'd have gone straight to Olive Bargain for the never-ending breadsticks."
