Petra was, she would readily admit, not what one would call a great cook. She could do the basics and maybe even get a little creative from time to time, and she could catch and clean a fish and cook it over the campfire like a pro, but she wasn't about to start whipping out five-course gourmet meals. But she was pretty confident in her ability to follow directions, and she'd been poking around on the internet earlier when she found the perfect recipe for the club fair tomorrow: cupcakes. And not just any cupcakes, but rainbow cupcakes. They were so cute, so cheerful, so on-theme, so delicious!

Sure, there were a lot of fiddly steps involved in making the layers come out right, but as long as she took her time and read through carefully, and didn't freak out when some of the yellow batter somehow got in her hair, it was all good. She even made the frosting, although she was tempted to just use Funfetti. Also, her apron was super cute, if she did say so herself.

((Open common room is open! But Petra'll swat your hand with a spatula if you try to take one of her cupcakes. They're for tomorrow.

Petra rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I know. I didn't name it. I just teamed up with them." She wanted money, they wanted publicity. It was a match made in the social justice basement.

"Teamed up for what? Establishing a branch?" Scully asked, curious, as she ladled out mac'n'cheese. She took a bite of the cupcake and hummed in enjoyment. "Very good."

"This whole...basically it was going to be a publicity stunt. Long story. Didn't happen, plane crashed, blah blah," Petra said, waving it off. "Really? Thanks! I was worried, you know, not going from a mix I'd screw it up good."

"Ahh." Scully tilted her head, still nibbling, and said, "No, it's very good, honestly. You were in a plane crash?" She shuddered visibly. "I... am not the best flyer in the world. I can't imagine how terrifying that was for you."

"It was...yeah it really sucked," Petra said. "But I was one of the lucky ones, you know? I try not to think about it, honestly. So let's talk about something else! Like cupcakes! Aren't they fun?"

"They are colorful and cheerful," Scully said, with mock-gravitas. "And convey the message of welcome to Pride very well." Any questions about Petra's transsexual status would verge on None of Her Business, although she was mildly curious. Best reason not to ask, though. "Are you planning on joining any other clubs? There's usually an interesting selection."

"I don't know," Petra admitted. "I don't know what they'll be yet, so, wait and see. Maybe. I'm running for Student Council, though! Did I say that already? Because I am, and if you're a junior you should vote for me. You know, if you want to, and totally not because I gave you a cupcake."

Scully laughed, and admitted, "I am a junior, but I haven't been paying attention to the race. Aside from seeing the posters around. Why should I vote from you, aside from cooking skills and a very cute apron?"

"As your Student Council representative," Petra said, giving Scully her pageant smile, "I hope to promote cohesiveness and unity among the student body, possibly through events such as makeover nights and community dinners. I also want to promote disaster awareness and readiness, as it is no joke." And then poof, back to normal human. "Did I mention the plane crash?"

"You did, and I applaud your platform," Scully told her, considering. "Community dinners would be nice. Sometimes I don't leave my room for a week, between the online courses and avoiding crazy people."

"I've gotten the impression that maybe a lot of people around here don't know each other as well as they should," Petra said. "Or are staggeringly self-absorbed, considering the number of people who couldn't tell if I was new or not or didn't recognize me after we had class together. It's not like it's a big school. So, yes. Community cohesion. And disaster awareness. Oh, and sex ed, I think we should have sex ed workshops. We could call them 'Sex Monkey.'"

Scully blinked. "'Sex Monkey,'" she repeated, eyebrows going up. "And-- who would be teaching these courses, and what would be in them? Not that I'm against the idea, but..."

"I was hoping to talk to someone at the clinic in town about it," Petra said. "Just, you know, safe sex, hey kids, STDs are bad, you might want to avoid getting knocked up until after high school and here's how. That kind of thing. I mean, a whole bunch of teenagers living together with no adult supervision seems like a chlamydia epidemic waiting to happen to me, you know? But none of that abstinence-only crap," she added quickly.

Scully did *not* want to be in the sole position to do that, but Petra had a point, so she said slowly, "I work at the Clinic on Thursdays, actually. I could talk to Chloe Sullivan-- she's the head right now-- if you like. Or just give you the contact information. There's about five of us that do rotating shifts there. Someone would have to be available when you're thinking about doing this, I'd expect."

"Really?" Petra said. "That would be great. I mean, I'm not on the council yet, but if I get elected, that would be great."

"Sure. I think -- yes, last summer we had some sex ed workshops." Scully's face pinked. "Taught by a former student. They were actually... helpful. Good."

Taught by Dean Winchester. Who was old enough Scully was embarrassed that she'd gotten a crush on him.

Okaaaaaay, so probably not Scully for teaching the sex ed workshop, if she got this embarrassed by the subject... "Yeah? Are they still around?"

"No, not at the moment. Their stepmom is the Principal, though. Dean and Sam. She might know if they're going to come back for a visit." Scully paused, then admitted, "Sex Ed from 20-something guys is slightly unnerving."

"I'll talk to this Chloe person first," Petra decided, "but then that might be a backup option. Thanks for letting me know."
