Fifth Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

Petra was, she would readily admit, not what one would call a great cook. She could do the basics and maybe even get a little creative from time to time, and she could catch and clean a fish and cook it over the campfire like a pro, but she wasn't about to start whipping out five-course gourmet meals. But she was pretty confident in her ability to follow directions, and she'd been poking around on the internet earlier when she found the perfect recipe for the club fair tomorrow: cupcakes. And not just any cupcakes, but rainbow cupcakes. They were so cute, so cheerful, so on-theme, so delicious!

Sure, there were a lot of fiddly steps involved in making the layers come out right, but as long as she took her time and read through carefully, and didn't freak out when some of the yellow batter somehow got in her hair, it was all good. She even made the frosting, although she was tempted to just use Funfetti. Also, her apron was super cute, if she did say so herself.

((Open common room is open! But Petra'll swat your hand with a spatula if you try to take one of her cupcakes. They're for tomorrow.

Well. Maybe if you're really nice she'll let you sample one for quality control.))

"Make really bright art," Sam decided. Spencer would be totally down with that idea. "Out of soda bottles and stuff. And paint and wear bright clothing."

"That would be fun!" Petra said. "Okay. I am totally down with Bright Colors Club."

"Too bad I'm too lazy to actually start it," Sam said with a shrug. Hey, she was honest about her faults.

"And I'm already starting one club and running for Student Council," Petra sighed.

"Guess we'll have to wear bright clothes and paint stuff all by ourselves."

[wasthecuteone]

"I might sew stuff instead," Petra said. "I'm better at that."

[hurtingzeebo]

"I've never tried sewing. Is it fun?"

[wasthecuteone]

"I think so, anyway," Petra said. "My mom taught me. I sew a lot of my clothes."

[hurtingzeebo]

"Really?" Sam was totally impressed. "You ever do, like, costumes and stuff?"

[wasthecuteone]

"I sewed all my pageant costumes," Petra confirmed. "Of course, then I had to rip them apart to make a banner...but that's another story."

"Well, we're always looking for new stuff for iCarly. I'd offer to pay, but, uh. I kinda tend to spend all my money on jerky."

[wasthecuteone]

"I don't work for free," Petra said. "And I don't know anything about your show, but maybe we could work something out? I think Kenzi wants me to make something, too, she got all excited when I told her I could sew." Sam and Kenzi. Should Petra be worried?

Considering that the two of them tended to bond over breaking into adults' apartments while they were small and furry and raiding the fridge?

Possibly.

"Yeah, neither does my uncle Carmine. We used to get endorsements sometimes, but they usually go horribly and comedically wrong," Sam mused. "What are your rates? Freddie might be able to pay you."

"I don't know," Petra said. "I've never sewed for other people before. Let me think about it and get back to you."

In the meantime, she was going to hold a cupcake out to Sam.

Cupcake! "Thanks. I'll totally still come by your booth tomorrow," Sam said. "The pride thing could be cool. I don't think we had one back in Seattle."

"I think it's a good idea," Petra said. "I'll look forward to seeing you."
