Dorm Lobby | Wednesday During and After Classes

There was excitement in the air. Okay, maybe that was just the mixture of Caroline's perfume and fresh baked cookies or just the scent of fresh permanent marker emanating from the sign adorning her table in the lobby.

Her purpose was the same as the words on the poster that had been glitter-fied at the KDG meeting:

SHOW OFF!
Sign up to perform in the Student Council Parent Weekend Recital!
When: SATURDAY EVENING
Where: The COMMUNITY CENTER

With a great big smile, Caroline was ready to do her Student Council duty and chat up anyone who looked in need of some persuasion to participate. Um, not that she was going to be using her special, vampiric talents to fill the sign up list. That would be bad, even if it would mean a seriously amazing show.

Hmm. Maybe she should just stick with the cookie bribe.

[The lobby is open! There is OCD!]

"I'm sure that would go down a treat." Greg would kill her. Well, more likely he'd remind her of the potential for someone else to kill her, but the ending of both potential scenarios was the same.

"Not at all hazardous to my health."

It wasn't the vampires she was worried about, in all honesty.

"Safer still, not to go there. You get closet vampires, right?" Or perhaps at least those who'd prefer it weren't broadcast to a room full of parents weekend guests.

Kate spent a second contemplating if Caroline was for real with that comment. "... I'm not about to pass comment what goes on in vampire bedrooms either." For a start, her gaydar wasn't that good. Besides. "I really don't want to know."

Considering what vampires were like in her world, that was not a pretty image to be presented with.

"You have would not say that if you'd seen vampires in my world." And that was what came to mind at the word, not the ones like Caroline who looked nice and normal and wouldn't seem out of place in a cheerleading uniform.

"They look worse than the band at the bar in town." Not by much, but-- Yeah.

Kate hummed in agreement with that sentiment. "Now you're getting me." This was why she was so put off by that particular mental image.

"Not something I want to think about either."

"They're the ones I've grown up seeing wandering around!" she pointed out. "People say vampire, I envision walking dessicated corpse. It's hard to break a seventeen year association."

Kate stared at her a moment. "I'm not going to torture you! You haven't done anything I'd need to torture you for," she argued. She didn't much like vampires, but she wasn't evil.

Until proven otherwise, Caroline was free and clear.

Was that reassuring?

"Making me nauseous doesn't make you worthy of torture." It just made her slightly more irritable and snarky than usual. Possibly amplified her usual distrust when it came to the undead and those who toyed with them.

"And I wouldn't need you to tell me how to hurt a vampire anyway." She knew that already. Vampire eating sword owner here.
