Fifth Floor Common Room [Wednesday afternoon]

It wasn't that Daenerys hadn't been thrilled when the raven had arrived bearing Ser Jorah's acceptance of her invitation to visit this weekend. She was happy, even if none of her bloodriders would be accompanying him -- someone had to stay with what was left of the khalasar, after all.

No, her sudden feeling of dread stemmed from the message she'd retrieved from her voice...thing, once she'd gotten it to work. The Imp had promised to keep his brother away from her, but now she needed to maintain distance between Ser Jorah and not just an easily-lost halfman, but the Kingslayer himself. It was a far less easy task, and Dany was left to fret as to how to manage it.

For now, though, she had taken the dragons out to her common area, tucking her legs up beside her on the couch as the three found places on the floor to entertain themselves. She kept an eye on them -- she really didn't want to have to put out any fires -- but meanwhile took to learning how to operate the large device in the room. She knew it was like a small play on a screen, having seen others use it, but the question of making it work was daunting. After pressing a few of the small protrusions on the box, she managed to make it come to hissing, grainy life. Then there were waving lines, with another press. Then a screen of simple blue.

Dany sat before the television, holding the little black rectangle in her hand, and began to try to read what the different buttons meant. Maybe she was missing something simple.

[ah, ye olde 'figuring out the tv' common room. open like crazy, save me from boredom and Dany from static, pls.]

Chuck came bearing microwave popcorn when he wandered down to the common room. He hadn't had anything better planned and figured maybe a movie marathon of whatever happened to be on would be a decent way to pass an afternoon.

"Aw, no. Broken?" It was a slightly less dramatic assumption than possessed.

"I don't know, our technology has it's moments." These things did happen around here. The rate of 'TV stuck on a bad channel' issues was unnaturally high.~

He tossed his bag of popcorn into the microwave and set it going before he made his way over. "But I can take a look?" he offered. "TV and I usually get along okay. To a slightly better than 'white noise' level of functionality, at least."

Chuck paused when he rounded the couch to take the remote and actually reached the point of looking at the floor. "Uhh." Tiny dragons staring at him. Tiny dragons. After the initial surprise, there was a moment and then... "Wow."

"It feels like I have an audience."

"I... can imagine." People in most worlds that weren't this particular little multidimensional crossroads would find this a lot weirder than Chuck did. "They're cute!" he offered. Cute and awesome. Not that he thought he'd test this statement out by going too close.

"... Where uh, abouts are you from?" he asked after a moment.

"No, I don't know it," he had to admit. "That happens a lot around here, though. I think I'd guessed from the uh, tiny dragons and the not knowing about television that maybe that was the case but... I thought I'd ask anyway, because, I figured it was worth checking." And polite not to assume.

Chuck poked at a few buttons in an attempt to lose the static, hoping this wouldn't take retuning.

"... I'm Chuck, I live down the hall," he added after a moment. If asking about where she lived had seemed the polite thing, then he should probably add a name for her.

Chuck mentally repeated that name a couple of times, in the hopes that would help him remember and not mangle it the next time he saw her. It... quite possibly wouldn't help.

Remembering the names of all the dragons was even less likely.

"Nearer," he agreed. "I think. It's difficult to tell with the different universes and everything. It's about ten years and half the country away. But we have televisions, and electricity and most things like here. Except magic. We don't have that."

"Or dragons."

"You should see me when it goes down," Chuck admitted with a self-deprecating smile. "I don't cope well."

"I think in part because it always happens in the middle of winter, when it's freezing cold outside... Electricity has us spoiled."
