3rd Floor Common Room | Thursday Afternoon

As far as Luke knew he had nobody visiting him this weekend but that didn't mean it was going to be entirely peaceful. Knowing Grover was showing up and might possibly be mad at him meant that Luke might be spending the weekend in his room. Deciding to take advantage of the few guest-free hours he had left, Luke decided to hang out in the common room to see if anything interesting was going on.

So far "interesting" was having Sports Center on and him trying to experiment putting chocolate syrup on a bowl of Reese's Puffs to see if that tasted any good.

[The CR is open, of course, and yes that cereal/syrup combination is good]

Alex was on his way back from Wellspring Arms and he...didn't quite make it all the way to his floor. Yet. But that was fine because he'd been hoping to run into Luke sometime soon anyway. "Oh, hey, Luke," he said, and then decided to get right to why he'd been hoping to run into Luke sometime soon: "My dad's coming this weekend. Just. You know. So you know. If that's going to be a problem for some reason?"

With their family you never knew.

"Well," Alex said pragmatically. "It's my dad. He might have stabbed you even if you didn't deserve it." Alex loved his dad. He also knew him. He paused for a moment, then said, "He probably won't stab you this time. I mean. He doesn't know you and all, and I asked him not to make too big of a scene. I think even he knows stabbing someone counts as a scene."

"Yikes, I hope not," Alex said. "My dad doesn't get along with most of the family. Which is why we live in the Bronx instead of on Olympus. Also I think Hades might still be mad at us for breaking out of his realm, although, probably a different Hades? I don't know." He shrugged. "And Dad said he'd get over it eventually."

"I think most of the family could do with chilling out a little bit," Alex said. Just, you know, whatever you do, don't tell Ares that.

"And some of them are probably still complaining about it," Alex said, rolling his eyes. "I'd rather people sacrificed Pop-Tarts to me."

So either the fifth floor was out of mugs or it was choosing to hide said mugs from Wesley, but either way, he found his way to the third floor to look for one.

"Oh, hello." Guy he'd gone to his girlfriend's home dimension with without ever really talking to.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right," Wesley agreed with a slight nod as he rummaged around for a mug. Jackpot! Sure, it had little teddy bears and rainbows on it, but it was a mug. "And, ah... Luke?"

He was actually pretty sure of that one, but it seemed more appropriate to ask.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fairly well," Wesley said. Which was at least half true, though he'd had his moments. "And yourself?" he asked as he went over to the sink to fill up a teapot.

Because awkward small-talk was the best kind of talk, of course.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've been rather thinking that myself," Wesley agreed. Although he didn't see why not having his father show up had merited a phone call discussing all of his personal failures from the past two years. "It certainly can be stressful to have one's parents about."

Luke, it was lucky Wes didn't know you were another member of Team Demigod. There might've been dorky questions coming your way otherwise.

"I'd say that's fairly impressive," Wesley remarked with a slight smile. "I've only ever had one guest at a time, which makes it rather more challenging to, er, lose them in the crowd, I suppose."

"Hey, Wesley," Alex said. "Are we migrating?"

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Having finally located a mug (albeit a slightly girl one), Wesley turned and laughed. "It appears so," he conceded. "The fifth floor common room isn't quite as well-stocked as this one."

"I heard there was cake the other day," Alex said, "but I didn't get any." Although this common room seemed to be sadly lacking in cake as well. "So I guess the cake was a lie."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I must have missed that as well," Wesley said thoughtfully. Huh. That was a little disappointing. He did like cake.

But he didn't get the reference, Alex, no.

Wesley was kind of lame that way sometimes. Alex chalked it up to being British. "Maybe we should make a tour of all the common rooms sometime. To find out if they're holding out cake on us. Oh, hey," he said, like something had suddenly occurred to him, because it had. "Listen, my dad's coming this weekend."

Yep. It was all Britain's fault. Even if Alex tried to teach him, his Britishness would probably be unreceptive.

"I'd certainly be amenable to that," Wesley agreed. "I suppose it might require a certain finesse to, ah, worm our way into the other floors' ranks."

He was kidding, of course. Partly, he just wasn't sure if this was how to talk to a thirteen-year-old or not.

Then --

"I'm sorry?"

Alex also chalked that up to Wesley being British. "Yeah. I mean, I asked him to try not to make a scene," although who knew if he'd acquiesce to that request, "so I'm hoping he'll pretend to be human, but, you know. Who knows. I just realized I needed to tell you."
