The Gym, Saturday morning

Kicking that fake goat in class yesterday had felt good. Kicking the punching bag repeatedly felt better, mainly because Bruce knew it was actually solid and not just some solid-seeming hologram. (Not that he would have kicked a real goat in the face, unless the goat started it.) Really, that was the end result of his more anti-social feelings most of the week. When you didn't feel much like dealing with people, you could just deal with an inanimate object that you could hit as hard as you could. And after that, normalcy could be achieved once again.

After a while, he was almost feeling relatively chipper! But he would be able to fake it way before then.

Just because Cara was in a better mood than she had this time last week, didn't mean she was yet in a good one. Even if she had been, her mood could always be improved further by hitting things. Which was why she made her way down to the gym.

"I see you're giving the farm animals a miss today." She was really starting to wonder about that class.

"No farm animals looked at me funny today," Bruce said. "And there's no Deadpool around to make them look at me funny."

"If he's the one controlling the animals, then it's probably not them you should be hitting." She probably shouldn't be encouraging him to do that. Oh well.

"Not during class time," Bruce said. He didn't want detention from that lunatic. "At least not without that being the assignment."

Cara would be tempted to point out that there were worse teachers to get detention from, and Bruce had no problem stealing butter from them. "You'd probably get marks for initiative."

"Maybe. But I'd rather not pick a fight unless I think I can win it," Bruce said. "And I haven't figured out how to beat someone like Deadpool yet in a fist fight." Besides cheating and using weapons when Deadpool wasn't expecting it.

Pfft, that was only cheating when you'd previously made a big deal about not using them, Jocelyn. "I'd suggest using your head...or your knee."

Yes, she was suggesting exactly what Bruce thought she was.

"That really is a regular move in your arsenal, isn't it?" Bruce asked.

Just because she'd tried it on him a couple of times. "I have plenty of others, but if it works..." She shrugged.

"It hasn't worked on me yet," Bruce pointed out. He was good at dodging that.

And yes, that did sound like a challenge for their next fight.

Again, hitting things made Cara feel better, especially when she was reasonably sure she wouldn't end up crying all over them.

"I'm perfectly willing to change that."

Bruce stopped kicking the bag and stepped away from it. "It's not going to happen. But you're free to try." Bruce settled into a lower stance than he usually used for defense, mainly because he just challenged Cara to try to hit him in the groin. After doing that, you had better play defense.

[OOC: I'll be afk for the next couple hours and then a little slow after that!]

Cara could work with that, especially when she could take advantage of his low guard to try to punch him in the face.

She never said she was going to aim for his groin right away.

[NP, I should get to bed soon anyway.]

Using his low stance to his advantage, Bruce ducked the punch and thrust his shoulder at Cara's midsection.

Feet planted, Cara twisted back and away from the thrust. She aimed a fist at his side, hoping to catch him before he pulled back.

The punch connected, but it was a glancing blow as Bruce followed through and dove past Cara, trying to roll back to his feet as quickly as possible after hitting the ground.

Cara bared her teeth in something resembling a grin before lunging at Bruce, aiming at kick at his knee.

Bruce turned as he rose and aimed a side kick at Cara's stomach, trusting that his leg's length would beat out Cara's. High risk, high reward if it connected.

Cara grunted at getting a gutful of shin, ignoring the flare of pain she stepped further into his space, siming an elbow at his chin.

Bruce let one foot slide back to balance him as the elbow hit its mark. But now that Cara was in nice and close, he aimed a short punch at her gut, which seemed to be his favorite target at the moment.

Cara could understand the appeal of favoured targets, and it wasn't like she hadn't been gut-punched a thousand times before. She doubled over more than she needed to, waiting to see if Bruce would try for a third blow.

He did. Bruce stepped in closer, aiming a knee at the same spot.

Cara twisted to one side at the last moment, bringing her own knee up and aiming decidedly lower.

Congratulations, Cara. You finally kneed Bruce in the nuts.

And for her troubles, Bruce stumbled toward Cara, trying to get in an off-balanced but very angry headbutt before he went down to his knees.

Cara shook her head to clear it. Normally she'd press the advantage right away, but since she didn't actually want to permanently damage Bruce, she took a moment to ask "Everything okay?"
