Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday evening

Break was actually in pretty nice as far as Bruce was concerned.. Some good was done, some sights were seen, and Bruce was able to keep up with his training to some degree. After checking out the cave to make sure everything was in order, Bruce decided to stop in the common room and make a show of social behavior.

In this case, Bruce turned on the TV and it was on some kind of zombie show. Not having any particular issue with zombies himself, he settled in with a glass of water and started considering what he knew about the science of dead bodies, the state of zombies as depicted on the show, and the only zombie he'd ever fought, Solomon Grundy. He was making notes about these comparisons. And yes, he was considering this as "a show of social behavior."

Petra had not one, not two, but four teacup dragons to tend to until...whenever the hell Dany got un-teacup-dragonized. She didn't even know. But this meant she had to feed them, and while she'd seen Dany slipping them tidbits, she had no idea of the proper nutritional needs of teacup dragons, other than: meat.

She'd gone out and bought the cheapest cuts she could find as soon as they got back to the island, and now returned lugging two grocery bags full. "Hey, Bruce," she said, "just a sec." She set her bags on the counter of the common room kitchen and started unloading the packages, ripping off strips of masking tape, sticking them to them, and writing, "DRAGON FOOD! DO NOT TOUCH!" on the tape. Then she shoved it all in the fridge. Since she drew the line at feeding the dragons raw meat, gross (and what if they got parasites or something? No.) so the next step was chunking up a roast and lightly searing it to take back to her room. But not right now. Right now her feet hurt and the dragons were (she hoped) asleep.

She flopped down in a chair and asked, "What are you watching?"

"Yes," Petra confirmed. "My roommate has three, like, teacup dragons. And now she's turned into one herself. I don't know. Maybe it's a thing that happens where she's from." She shrugged. "I mean, they have dragons there already so why not?"

Petra stared at Bruce for a long moment before asking, "What, seriously?"

"Seriously?" Petra did not understand how someone could possibly be calm about this.

"A few weeks? Seriously?" Petra was not taking this well. Then again, at her current rate of finding things out, she should be adjusted to the full range of Fandom crazy...oh, by about six months after graduating.

"I hope so. I mean, Dany usually keeps them pretty close so I haven't had to worry about feeding them or whatever before, and it's not like a cat or something where I could pretty much figure it out, you know? So I've got my fingers crossed I'm not missing something really obvious and critical. Petra looked kind of worried, but tried to shake it off. "So are you just getting into the Halloween spirit a little early or what?"

The weirdness factor flew right over Petra's head and she just assumed the TV was occasionally temperamental in the way of all electronics. "Huh. Should we call maintenance? Is there maintenance?"

"Love trashy reality shows! Like Captains Bodacious!"

"You're missing out," Petra told him, shaking her head. "It's totally the best show on television." If you were a teenage girl who was into that kind of thing, which Petra so was.

"British boarding school boys who witness a crime by the mob and run away to hide by becoming seafaring pirates slash rock stars," Petra explained matter-of-factly.

Yes. She had said it was a reality show. 'Reality' was such a tricky word, especially when it came to Corporation programming.

"Well," Petra said. "For a very specific value of reality."
