Throughout the Dorms, Monday

It was Halloween, and you know what that meant: time was up! Either people had decorated their doors for the contest or they hadn't. Or they'd left it to the last minute, were mid-process, and were about to get a shock, because it was time for the judging to happen. And no, no extensions allowed.

((OOC: How this works: Ping into the subthread for your floor with your room number and a description of how your door is decorated. ICly, Student Council representatives will handwavily come by at some point during the afternoon to judge and rank your door. (Any StuCo reps who feel like dropping into the post to comment on doors for real are of course welcome to do so. And anyone else who wants to comment on/observe a door, you just don't get to fake judge, la.) OOCly, winners by floor will be chosen via RNG. Fabulous fake prizes will be announced tomorrow!))

It was entirely possible Ben didn't really get the door decorating...thing.

He had decorated the wall next to the door with a sign that read "DOOR" in bold letters, with a helpful arrow pointing to it.

Butters had lots of fun putting together something for his and Sam's door! There were great big pumpkins (http://halloweendecorations.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/pumpkin-patch-door-decoration.jpg?w=277&h=500) made out of wood over the door, grinning happily down at people with vines hanging down, and for the door itself, Butters had painted happy skeleton with a jaunty hat (http://www.halloween-fun.info/images/how-to-decorate-front-door-for-halloween.gif), tipping it to passersby for all the Halloween cheer!

Sure, it wasn't very spooky, but Butters felt Halloween should be more fun than scary!

Prepare to be food! (http://regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com/7550.html?view=93822#t93822)

Some people from a galaxy far far away might think of a sarlaac pit. Especially with the teeth Kenzi and Bart studded the door with.

Even if Annie didn't win this, she felt it her duty as a StuCo representative to participate, and to participate well.

The door had been covered in a black plastic tablecloth, with one of those hanging HAPPY HALLOWEEN signs draped across it in orange (admittedly that would have looked better if the door was wider), and various store bought cut-out decorations taped to it. But if you thought it was just a mishmash of stuff, oh no, the cut-outs all made sense. There were pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns towards the bottom of the door, along with a black cat, and a moon in the sky that was really just a moon cut in half because there'd been a witch riding a broom on the other half of it and she was afraid of offending real witches.

And above the doorknob was a simple sign reading "DO NOT LICK" with no explanation.

Dave tried to go all out with his door. A black sheet was wrapped around it, providing a spooky background. Attached to the sheet were a number of ghosts made with white fabric, tennis balls, rubber bands, and black marker faces. The door knob even had a skull made of toothpicks glued together. Toward the bottom of the door were some large gray headstones made out of construction paper to finish off the theme. Toward the top of the door, written in glitter, was "HAPPY HALLOWEEN" and a little smaller below that, "Dave is very sorry." (That part was a late addition. The glue was even still wet.)

And all of that was done in a desperate plea to distract from Topher's contribution to the door, an unflattering picture of Stephanie Brown. Because the door needed a spooky face. Nothing was going to distract from that, was it?

Dave was so sorry. if it helped, he at least tried to make sure it was the least unflattering picture Topher had? He didn't think that would help, no.

Like the other Student Council reps, Quinn had been determined to put on a good show. She'd covered their door in brown butcher paper and glued a black cut-out of a spooky-looking house to one corner, then sketched a path to the house's door. All along the path, miniature fluffy pink bunnies traipsed in costume -- a Tin Man and Dorothy, a witch, a pumpkin.

It was perhaps significant that none were coming the other way.

She'd added a border of black cats to the bottom and felt good about it.

Rilla, being a member of the Student Council, felt she had to set an example for the rest of her floor.

Her door (and Jims', though he had been less helpful) had been covered in white paper. She'd hung a wreath made of yarn (http://images.meredith.com/bhg/images/2011/10/p_101745915.jpg) from it, along with a black bucket (http://images.meredith.com/bhg/images/2011/10/p_101745919.jpg) neatly labeled "treats", which she'd filled with homemade goodies sent from Susan, her cook and housekeeper from home.

Cookies and maple candy for everyone!

Squall's door had a piece of paper taped to it on which he'd written "Happy Hallowe'en" in orange marker.

A-yup.
