Fifth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Toby had just gone to get a little dinner for himself, but apparently the Chinese food place was in the middle of a 5-for-1 special. Which, well. He wasn't gonna turn down free food, but now he had entirely too much. Hence, common room, in hopes that he might be able to foist off some of this food instead of letting it go to waste.

Flipping through the channels, he stopped on something apparently called Spirit Speaker, and before he knew it he was totally sucked in to the storyline.

"Hey, Toby," Stephanie said as she poked her head in. Having a free-food sense wasn't a metahuman ability (at least not for her), just something you tended to cultivate when food was hard to afford at times. "Anything interesting on?"

"A show about a woman who talks to dead people?" Toby offered, looking only slightly sheepish at being caught watching it. He had deliberately set up the food in the hopes of people coming in, after all.

". . . not necessarily the definition of interesting I had in mind, but it'll do," Stephanie decided, eyeing the food not at all subtly. "It's not all morbid and depressing, is it?"

Topher spotted Steph. Made eye contact with her. He opened his mouth a few times as if to speak, couldn't come up with anything to say, and tried to subtly edge away.

"Oh, look, if it isn't not-Dave," Stephanie said offhandedly after about two seconds of pretending she hadn't noticed him right away. "How are you doing tonight?"

Wow, way to lay on the aggressively cheerful there, Brown.

This wasn't Hanna's floor, but there were people there. So she was there. "Is that Spirit Speaker?"

"And Chinese food," Stephanie said helpfully. "Am I the only one who doesn't know this show so far?"

"Maybe? I used to watch it...like five years ago," Hanna told her.

"According to the TV Guide," Toby nodded. "It hasn't been made yet where I'm from, so it's still new to me."

"I think the show is no longer airing in this time, except in repeats. I stopped following it a few years ago" Hanna said, eying the Chinese food cartons. "Is that for anyone?"

Bruce was just returning from several hours in the cave building his computer system from scratch, so food - if it was being shared - smelled like a good idea.

"Evening. What's on tonight?" Bruce asked, taking a glance at the spare Chinese.

"Spirit Speaker," Toby informed him. "I'll let you guess what it's about. And yes, the food's being shared. Help yourself."

"Thanks," Bruce said. "Just as a wild guess, I'd say it's about someone who speaks to spirits. Am I close?"

Topher had smelled food, which meant he was totally in. Even though this had required a journey of two flights of stairs.

"Hey," he said, flopping down on the couch with way more food than he was entitled to. "Whazzat? Looks boring."

Always the diplomat, this one.

"Nobody's forcing you to stick around," Toby said, his eyebrow raised at both the tone and the excessive amount of food Topher had helped himself to.

"Yeah, but I'm hungry," Topher pointed out. "And hiding from my friend who keeps bugging me. So. She totally won't catch me up here."

Actually, Topher, the common room with food was exactly where Kenzi would look. You know, if she cared.

Richie didn't often go wandering the halls in search of food but every once in a while it just seemed like the thing to do. Tonight was one of those times.

"Got any eggrolls?" he asked. The food was for sharing, right? The food was always for sharing. That was how this worked.

"Like a dozen," Toby pointed. "And yes, it's for sharing."

"Awesome," Richie said, grinning. "Sesame chicken?" Shameless, when it came to mooching off of other people's food, was Richie.

"You usually feed half the dorm, or were you just really hungry?"

It was Tony's baby-daddy! Topher resisted the urge to glare.

"No," he said, deliberately blocking the food that wasn't his.

See, sullenness was even more antisocial than your standard-issue glare.

"Toby said there were," Richie said, oblivious to any tension. "Dude, I can see them. You're not planning on eating them all, right?" Topher wasn't big enough to eat that much food. He might explode.

Kenzi probably projected 'good mood' like a perfume. "Hi you."
