Around the dorms [Sunday morning]

Half to give Ender some time to process Val's disappearance and half because it was a good idea, Ben was putting up hand-written posters on various bulletin boards:

They didn't have the first idea of what was happening, but knowing how big the problem had become might help. Maybe.

"Could be," Ben mused. "Ender's sister seems to have disappeared today. I don't know if his brother's gone too, and I've always been an only child. If this blows over tomorrow, I'll be really excited."

"I just don't want people to freak out for no reason if it is over in a couple days," Quinn said, biting her lip. "But if it's not..."

She let the sentence trail off. If it wasn't, she wasn't sure what they could do about it. It wasn't exactly the kind of problem she had any background in.

It was half flippant and half serious.

"Probably there will be something to beat up on sooner or later."

"I kind of hope so," Ben said. "People are going to have a lot of steam to blow off."

He could be thinking of the ticking bomb of an Ender in his room.

Quinn nodded, since that was something she understood.

"I knew the island had been behaving itself too much," she said wryly. "We're about due for ... something this insane. Not that that helps."
