Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Dany had gotten another letter. She was now missing two different bloodriders, and at this rate, all of Westeros would be gone in days. And she didn't know how to make it better, or what to do, or how to fix any of it. And after speaking to Chuck, she came to the realization that no one else was coping much better than she was.

So she decided to do what she knew how: she would provide. She couldn't cook, no, but she could just barely work a phone, so it wasn't long before the common room was filled with Chinese food. Dany opted to eat with a fork rather than the silly sticks, of course, but it was filling and warm and good, and she pressed buttons on the television until she found something light and easy to watch.

It made nothing better. But it helped, the tiniest bit.

"I've grown used to it," she admitted. "Petra mentioned something about legality when I first told her -- my husband was just past his thirtieth birthday when we wed. But it's odder for me, to think of courting as you do, without marriage as the set outcome. Odd, but...interesting." Appealing, even.

"Thirty." Dany might as well have said eighty, and Quinn froze for just a moment on that one. "See, I grew up pretty religious. My folks were fine with me dating, but I wasn't supposed to -- you know. Mess around too much before I got married."

She shrugged. "It can be fun, though. With the right person."

"I can understand that," Dany said, though she was unsure why religion factored into it. Her dowry was higher due to her virginity, after all. "But -- I can see how it would be fun, yes. There's a certain appeal to simply...enjoying oneself, rather than worrying about bearing sons or being a good wife or queen. Or khaleesi, as I am."

"Because everywhere is sexist," Quinn decided. "Nobody tells guys the most important thing they can do is father sons or be a good ... okay, being a good king is probably pretty important, not that I know any actual kings. But still."

"It must be nice to simply have a young man to tell you when you look lovely, or to ask to escort you places, or to enjoy...physically," Dany said carefully, barely averting a blush. "I loved Drogo deeply -- I still do, and I always will. But I understand the draw of dating. That's what it's called, right?"

"Dating," Quinn confirmed. "Or you can just call it hanging out, if you aren't really at the naming a relationship stage yet. Do you have your eye on somebody?"

This was much better to talk about than vanishing people.

This time, Dany's blush wasn't as easily hidden. "I'm not ready," she said softly, but that didn't really answer the question, did it? And she felt like she could be ready, soon. She'd been ready enough to buy a kiss. And regardless of anyone else's feelings, that much was exhilarating for her.
