The Roof; Saturday Evening [ 01/07 ].
Okay, so, it was Saturday night and Britta felt a little lame about the fact that she was up on the roof with nothing better to do than smoke some...cigarettes, but it hardly felt like Friday when you'd basically taken an extended weekend and didn't get back until Wednesday. So she was actually enjoying the chance to just know that there was a good spot in this place for just reflecting and smoking...cigarettes.
From the stash of...tobacco she'd gotten on her little trip. Man. A lot of the guys she smoked with in Riverside claimed there was nothing better than homegrown, but...
"I beg to differ, gentlemen," Britta said to no one in particular after a satisfied inhale and a pleased sigh. "I beg to differ."

...because she was so curious! Or something.

"Good to know," Britta grinned. "I'd be worried if a spry young staple-weilding guy such as yourself couldn't, really."

He gave his eyebrows a comical waggle and said, "Absolutely no need to be worried, then, yeah? I'd offer to give you a looksie but, you know, I'm shy."
Yeah, right.

Come on, he basically fed that one to her with a fork.

See, he could take it as well as dish it out. He only threw tantrums sometimes.

"Well, you are new and I wouldn't wanna frighten my new friend back to Colorado, wherever the fuck that is!"
Apparently, geography wasn't a strength for either them.
"Tell you what, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you wouldn't be scared. Nice of me, yeah?"
no subject
She could live with this.
"You're a real gentleman," she said. "Too bad gentlemen usually suck."

He tossed his mostly finished cigarette over the edge of the roof and grinned. "Gentlemen hold doors open and pull out chairs. I don't do that shit. Girls have two arms, they can do it on their own. And I've got better things to do with girls."

"So which room are you stuck in? Any roommates?"
no subject
He thought he lived a charmed life. "You got stuck with a roommate, didn't you?"
no subject
"Yeah," Britta sighed. "But she's cool. Susan. Have you met her? Kind of gothy? Great big black streak in her hair?"
She was kind of hard to miss, really.
no subject
"Nope, haven't met her yet," he answered, shaking his head. "Obviously, something I'll have to correct in the near future. I don't know enough goth chicks. And the ones I do know have bad fucking teeth and think themselves vampires."
Some clubs in England were a bit weird, you see. "That mean you two are gonna do each other's hair and talk about boys together?"
no subject
"This is when the alien creatures come in and completely brainwash me, right?" she said. "Because that's not going to happen. Why? You lonely? Miss braiding hair and talking about boys all night? Maybe you can come over and we can paint your toenails, too."
no subject
He wasn't, not really, but did she really think he wouldn't match her banter with some of his own? "I think you're the lonely one here."
