Front Lawn of the Dorms [Tuesday afternoon]

The chill wasn't so much that Dany was uncomfortable spending time outside. Swathed in a cloak and armed with her grooming tools, she'd led her silver out into the courtyard for a little exercise. The three dragons were curled up on a small blanket that she'd stretched out across the grass, and were alternating watching Dany work, and tumbling atop each other like kittens.

Except for how deeply they were not like kittens.

Dany kept an eye on them, though, as she carefully brushed out her poor neglected horse, and prepared to take her mare for a quick trot around the island. But for now, she was content to watch her three baby dragons enjoy themselves outside, and listen to the quiet snorting of her silver.

That was far easier to answer than how to be employed. "Oh, magic books and the like!"

And now she narrowed her eyes at him, a slight frown crossing her features. "What sort of magic books?"

"All sorts as far as I can tell. They're all new to me." Oh, so many universes to learn from. "But I am most eager to read them all!"

"Will you then practice all sorts of magic, then, Loki?" she asked, her brow creased. "I do not think that wise."

"Whyever not?"

"I have seen firsthand the effects of dark magic, and I am here because of them," she said quietly. "I do not trust any sort, now."

"Magic is hardly to blame," Loki replied with a scoff. "It would be whomever wields it that you should fear."

"I had her killed," Dany said curtly. "But I still do not trust it. Magic has taken what I held dearest and corrupted it, and I am not sure that that sort of power should belong to anyone. The potential for misuse is too great."

"Do you distrust those who wield a sword?" he asked. "Or any other tool?"

"Yes," she replied easily. "Depending upon who they wield it towards. I'm not inclined to put my faith in others, other than those sworn to me."

"You must not trust many here then," he remarked, waggling his fingers at the dragons.

"A widowed queen must keep her enemies in mind and her back to a wall," she said with a wan smile as Viserion, Rhaegal and Drogon watched his fingers eagerly. "So no, I do not. Particularly when it comes to magic. I've known too much betrayal and trickery in my short lifetime."

"Trickery is what I am best at," he assured her with the utmost honesty. "I am the god of it, after all!"

That earned him a lifted brow. "Then I shall hope to never be at odds with you."

"Most people do not trust me, but here they do not let that stop them from being my friend." A beat. "Save for Ares-son. But he's a lout."

"A friend you shall be," she agreed. "But I think I shall keep myself in your good graces. I'd much rather have that trickery on my side than another's."

"It will be fun!" he assured her. "I will show you the website Tumblr, where they worship with animated images called 'gifs'!"

And memes. Which he took as an odd sort of prayer.

"Why do they do this?" Dany asked, now wholly alarmed for a new reason. "What do these 'gifs' grant them?"

"I am as of yet uncertain their true purpose, but they seem to offer pleasure." He did not know why so many people have bodies that were ready, but he was intrigued.
