Dorm Lobby | Thursday During and After Classes

Determination was key when attempting to sell students a wide variety of colorful flowers at reasonable rates in part of a school fund raiser while at the same time suggesting they have a quick talk with the other guy in the lobby to turn over their romantic futures to the high school fraternity for a lovely Valentine's Day blind date. Even if you weren't so certain these things ever ended well for people.

So it was with a determined smile and a plate of home made (from the box, people) brownies that Caroline settled in at the well-decorated table and prepared to encourage onlookers to fork over their cash and names.

Or just take a brownie and entertain her. Same diff.

For those who don't want brownies and conversation.

Who has food for you and is ready to upsell on those roses.

"Oooooh, is there some for me in there?" Jake asked. It was only natural that he'd show up. For one thing, she might get mad at him for not entertaining her. For another, she had brownies and she was his girlfriend. Not necessarily in that order of importance.

"Not unless you're purchasing flowers for someone special," she said, ready to smack his hand away if he reached for a brownie. "And know that when I say someone special I mean me."

"I'm glad you clarified," he teased. He leaned against her side of the table and glanced between her and the brownies. "I haven't bought you flowers before."

Caroline looked up at him with a raised eyebrow. "And that means you can never give me flowers?"

"It means I don't know which ones you like," he corrected, raising an eyebrow back at her.

Caroline laughed, thinking that was a seriously lame excuse. "Well, I suppose I could help you figure that out. It is kind of what I'm here to do today. Think you can guess a good color?"

"Isn't the colour part of what makes it your favourite?" he asked, because it sounded like it would be and he didn't think she approved of his colour schemes. "Cause you'd risk for me going for plane red."

"Well, red would signify you love me," she pointed out. "Which we already know, but it's always nice to hear again. Now, according to our florist, white could help you say I'm heavenly and still you think yourself worthy."

No, Caroline couldn't help teasing him by not just saying what she wanted.

Jake rolled his eyes. "I don't care what it says. I want to know what you like which says that I care about what you want and not what some boring flowers dude says."

"Hmm. I guess knowing that you wasted money on dying plants just because you wanted to make me happy is enough," she replied, trying to look as sincere as possible.

"Keep this up and I'm not buying you any dying plants," he warned, wrinkling his nose at her.

"Fine, you can get me chocolate instead," she offered, thinking her stomach would probably appreciate the attention.

He laughed and smiled at her. "See? That's much easier and you'll appreciate it more than dead plants."

"So you think you know my tastes there better?" Caroline asked, holding up the plate of brownies as apparently she'd decided to share.

"I think chocolate is something you can't go wrong with," he grinned and snagged up a brownie. "Unless you get something with like gross filling, but I'm smarter than that."

"I look forward to finding out," Caroline told him, setting the tray down and leaning back in her chair. "Does that mean you're down here getting tickets?"

"I don't know. Are blind dates required or can I pick a girl of my choosing?" he asked before munching on his brownie.

"Um, that all depends," she said, gaze narrowing as he was so not allowed to tease her about that. "I went stag to last year's dance. I suppose I could do that again."

"You think I'm going to let you go alone?" he asked, raising both eyebrows at her. "You sure you're talking to the right boyfriend here?"

Anakin was here today on behalf of the frat, and totally looked like he knew what he was doing . . . if only in the sense that he was intent on the program he was putting together on his datapad.

Which was what he'd be spending most of his downtime today doing, when he wasn't in class or dealing with people.

I took a personal snow day and should be mostly around.
