1st floor lobby- Thursday after classes

"Hey, everyone," Annie began with a big smile. "We have a few ideas we wanted to tell you about, and hopefully it'll make everyone happy." Which was code for Maybe Rebecca will not complain this week.

“It seems completely impossible, but it’s been a month and we haven’t had a dance,” Rilla exclaimed. “So we’re going to change that--on Friday the 23rd, we’re going to have a--” she glanced at Annie, confirming the term, “--crush party?”

"Yes! Where as it was explained to me-" Not that she was going to say by who because sometimes Annie was bad. "-is that everyone gets five invitations to give to boys- or, girls, no judging- you want to come to the party. So you don't really need to ask anyone to come."

“Which is quite a relief,” Rilla said with a little smile, “as women in my time never do the asking. This is very...forward.”

"And some people are just too nervous to do anything like that. So you can just text them or slip the invitation under their door and don't worry about a thing!"

“If you’re very shy or think your crush might recognize your voice or handwriting, you can ask one of us here to call or place the invitation, too,” Rilla offered.

"There are a couple things we're going to need today, so we thought we could come up with a theme for the party, as a group," said Annie. "And then we can make up invitations and talk about which boys- or girls, again with the no judging- we want to invite!"

"Who explained it to you?" Rebecca asked loudly.

Also: "And I was thinking--" stressing the 'I,' of course, because it was her idea, damn it, Annie -- "we could do a beach theme. To celebrate the better weather. And the beginning of bikini season."

It's not like Annie took credit! That made it better, right?

"Do you mean wearing actual bikinis?" she had to check. Otherwise she was down for it.

"Please, like half this room could fill them out," Rebecca said dismissively. Nice way to talk about your sisters, Becs. "Just a general... beach vibe."

Annie consoled herself with the fact that she knew for sure her boobs were totally better than Rebecca's.

"A beach theme might work. We could even take inspiration from Rio."

"Though it might be tricky to have it on the beach, since it's invite-only," Rebecca said thoughtfully. "Oooh. We could maybe get a bouncer? I could totally make some calls."

REBECCA.

"I think we can skip the bouncer," Annie said quickly.

"I'm sure that one woman who works security would be happy to help!" Rebecca, please stop being horrible.

"We don't need a bouncer. Let's move on," Annie pressed.

Besides, the security woman was too hot for a high school party. Seriously.

"So what if someone tries to show up without an invitation?"

Seriously, Rebecca, stop.

Annie was going to have a terminal case of the eyerolls the second Rebecca wasn't looking.

"Then we turn them away sans bouncer. How about we talk about decor?"

"Right," Rebecca said. "I'm thinking paper lanterns."

Work on invitations, decide who you're going to invite...

Hopefully you can brought pens because Annie swore she left them right here a minute ago...

Quinn spent entirely too long finding a pen (and didn't even get a bottle episode out of it) before she started making her list of possible people to invite.

Puck was a duh. So was Bruce. Then ... Jace? Maybe Peter? Maybe Warren?

She raised her head from her notebook. "Can we ask people who have girlfriends if it's totally not meant in a 'I wanna steal him' way?" she wondered. "It's just saying they're cute, right?"

"I think that's okay," Annie decided. "As long as they don't bring their girlfriends ~~or we'll have to revisit the bouncer situation~~. Maybe we could even send something to the girls for letting us borrow their guys for it?"

"Like a 'here, have a fun night in sometime' gift," Quinn mused "Popcorn and DVDs or something. I like that. Plus, it'll make people way nicer about it."

Hanna found a pen and started working on invitations. Or at least she was thinking about who she might invite. She had a few ideas. Maybe.

Who are there!

Rilla was there! Jims was there! Jims' bottle...had been there a second ago, Rilla would have sworn to it.

Cursing was Very Bad, so Rilla was doing some quality mumbling under her breath to make up for it.

"Everything okay?" Annie asked, hearing the mumbling.

"Have you seen Jims' bottle? I had it with me when I came in and now it's like it wandered away by itself," Rilla said.

"No," she said, looking in case it was someplace obvious. "Are you sure you brought it?"

"Yes," Rilla said, thinking back. "I picked up Jims, then the bag, then I put the bottle in the bag...do you think it fell out somewhere?"

"It might have. I can watch him if you want to retrace your steps or something," Annie offered.

"That would be wonderful," Rilla said enthusiastically, bouncing to her feet. "I'll be right back."

"Okay! I will be right here. With your baby," Annie said, making a face at Jims.

Rilla returned ten minutes later with the bottle. "It was in my stockings drawer," she said, looking mortified. "How did that happen?"

"...What were you doing before coming here?" Annie wondered.

"Nothing near my stockings!" Rilla replied. "Do you think things might be--" she lowered her voice, "--moving?"

Annie lowered her voice automatically, too. "Like they got up and walked away?"

"Yes!" Rilla said, wide-eyed. "Stranger things have happened around here, you know."

"I am missing a lot of pens," Annie said slowly.

And there was no monkey to blame it on.

That anyone knew of.

Rilla nodded solemnly. "I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were off with Jims' bottle. Laughing at us."

Maybe she will invite a boy too!

The insane ways in which I have messed up my sleep schedule will have me sleeping till 4 pm on Saturday, I swear.
