The Roof of the Dorms, Saturday Afternoon
Finally, that whole mess with the school board had been sorted out, and Warren was free to wander around wherever he wanted without worrying about who was getting an eyeful of wing. Okay, sure, so it meant that the last week of his high school career had been a bit of a wash, since having to run around with an image inducer turned on all the time had been something of a mood killer, but now he had a little bit of time before grad in order to just appreciate his last little bit of time here on the island.
Naturally, this was the week that spring caught up with him and he started molting.
This afternoon, Warren could be found sitting shirtless on the roof and fidgeting, the occasional feather drifting down to settle beside him.
"I hate everything."
No, he didn't really. But regrowing feathers was agonizingly itchy business.

"I don't see why not," he mused, pulling out his phone. "I mean, if they're coming here anyhow, it'd just be one more thing to carry. And it would be something a little more substantial than soup to eat."

She wasn't sure she'd have enough of an appetite for the rolls, but even smelling fresh bread was therapeutic.

He didn't have to be miserable alone, this way!

"Um. It's kind of a... bird thing," he replied, awkwardly rubbing at the back of his neck with one hand. "Like how dogs shed, birds lose their old feathers so that new ones can come in..."
Which was so attractive.
"I mean, it's annoying, but except for that, I'm fine. Maybe a little anxious for grad, I guess?"

"Karla doesn't graduate until next year," he shared. "And Bobby is probably going to want to go home to his own world, and Tony to his, and... You always hear about people going different ways after high school, but that's just... different sides of the country or whatever. Here, it's different worlds, times, realities, universes..."

"I've had the same roommate ever since I got here," she said. "I know her pretty much better than anybody. And .... Claudia's going to one of the Dakotas, and I'll be in Ohio and then Connecticut. We'll say we'll stay in touch, but does that ever really happen?"
She pushed her hair up. "And then there's Puck, but that's a totally different issue. Not that the alternate universe thing helps."

"It really doesn't," he murmured. "But maybe it's at least a little easier to keep in touch with someone like a boyfriend or girlfriend after graduation? I mean, it doesn't make the relationship itself any easier, but..."
A guy had to dream, here.

"And that's fair, too. Not everybody needs to make plans to settle down and marry their high school sweethearts or anything. Planning for your career, that's important too."

War. Oh god, he was so not ready for war.

Quinn wasn't exactly an expert on Kaeleer, but she had seen Karla try to cook.
"At least California's pretty."
no subject
He was trying to be nice.
"And California is probably going to be awesome. I mean, it'll be a normal school, with normal classes, and normal students. So, pretty different from Fandom. So long as I keep my wings tucked in, it'll be a nice change of pace."
no subject
"Normal normal normal," she said dreamily. "Good luck with it."
