"Oh, boy!"

When Butters woke up as a pony again, as he had that one time last summer, he was ecstatic, and he couldn't comprehend why anyone would be anything else. From the moment he stumbled out of bed, tripping on his own hooves, he knew exactly what he wanted to do and he wasted no time prancing out of the doors and onto the yard, where his boundless energy and excitement seemed to be on full display.

Butters was pretending he was a champion race horse, running back and forth. He nearly crouched down on one end of the lawn, wiggling his butt in the air before he call out, "And they're off!" and he barreled forward with loping steps, breathlessly narrating the excitement of the race until he reached the end and cried out, "And he's done it! The clear and unsurprising winner is none other than Butters Stotch, that fine stallion! Well, we know he'll be breeding with the finest filly in the stable tonight! Give us a victory lap, Butters!"

And so he did, mimicking the sounds of the cheering crowd as he pranced about until the next race.

Was that a loud burst of pony laughter? Why yes, it was.

"Your name is Butters."

Atton was a lot manlier, Butters.

"H-hey!" Butters protested. "Butters is a good name. It's my name, anyway, and that's good enough for me! You still haven't even told me yours."

"I'm Atton," Atton retorted. He was feeling a lot better about basically being collapsed on the dorm lawn now. "Atton Rand."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Atton," said Butters, lifting his snout in the air importantly, "and I won't even make fun of your name or nothin'."

He was going to be the bigger pony.

"Brave words coming from a guy called Butters," Atton said. "Hey, what do ponies eat anyway...?"

"Oh, you know," said Butters. "Grass, hay, apples. The tender hearts of the unpure."

No, Butters. No.

"...Yeah, have I mentioned I'm not comfortable with this whole being a pony thing?" Atton asked.

Yes, he had. And he would mention so again and again and again...

"Oh, don't worry!" Butters assured Atton with a laugh. "It goes away after a couple of days. You'll be back to normal before you know it, and, hey, you might even surprise yourself and think, 'hey, you know what? Bein' a pony wasn't half bad; I almost miss it.'"

"I'm not counting on it," Atton informed him. "What, did you get kicked in the head?"

"No," said Butters lightly, "but I think I might have been dropped on my head once when I was a baby. Boy oh boy, Mom was real sorry about that. That's why she's always so nice to me now, and worries when I get hurt."
