Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Rilla had intended to spend her evening cooking for her boys: Jem and Jerry in Flanders and Walter and Kenneth in training in Kingsport.

Instead she was shrieking at a goat and beating it with what was left of her cookbook.

"YOU SPIT THAT OUT RIGHT NOW! THAT'S MY SHORTBREAD RECIPE."

The goat was sad, so sad, but not letting it go.

Just another Thursday night in Fandom.

Really, Stacey had just been looking to find anyone who she might be able to casually ask a question of without having to say, enter it in her Google search history and look like a weirdo.

"So... do you think there's a way to get a phone back from a goat without a vet?"

See, that search would end up on a comedy website somewhere.

"Maybe?" she said, looking a little embarrassed about it. "And I have stuff in my drafts I need to get to..."

She was worried about the goat like not at all, but god forbid she rewrite a text.

Stacey looked like she didn't really want to say this, but... "He could probably use some social interaction anyway."

"I won't tell if you won't," she said. "Just... why are there goats?"

Had anyone asked this question yet? Say someone had.

Dave was checking into common rooms for people to begin with, but the sounds of someone struggling with a goat really caught Dave's attention once he got to the fifth floor.

"Is everything okay?" he asked as he walked in.

"Was it a good recipe?" Dave checked.

"I'll take that as a yes," Dave said. "But are you sure you really want it back after a goat ate it?"

If she was lucky, it only had goat spit on it.

"If it helps, I could probably get a shortbread recipe you can use," Dave offered. "I mean, I've never tried to make it, but I'm not much of a baker anyway."

Ulrik's day had gone rather splendidly, he felt. Well, the first encounter with a goat trying to eat the letter he was carrying to the post office hadn't been all that great, but once he'd figured out (by sheer chance) that a certain act of concussive force was all that was required to vanquish them, he'd gone a-Viking about the island.

"Evening, Rilla," he greeted her. "Malicious things, aren't they?"

[identity profile] nomelancholy.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"One tried to eat a letter to my sister," Ulrik confessed with a frown. "I could attempt to get rid of him for you?" he offered. "Although I have to admit the only permanent solution I've found is a bit... violent."

"All right, then," Ulrik said, curling the fingers of one hand into a fist and delivering a solid punch to the goat's nose. "That's for the lady's recipe!" he said triumphantly, as the goat vanished in a puff of smoke.

"So apparently we have goats here sometimes," said Stacey, attempting to be a good big sister way, way too late.

"So I've noticed," Ulrik said. "Thanks for the heads-up," he added, with a teasing grin.

"They're sort of a new thing... didn't see this coming," she explained, and smiled. "So how've you been?"

[identity profile] nomelancholy.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Adjusting, I suppose," Ulrik said. "I think I'll have to look in to getting myself one of those phones without the wires for as long as I'm here. They seem quite handy." When not being chewed on by roving capra, in any case.

"A tip?" Stacey said. "Goats will eat those. But otherwise I can't live without the... phones without wires."

Shh, the phrasing was cute.
