Fifth Floor Common Room, Friday Evening

So. Today was Toby's sixteenth birthday. He'd decided against holding an actual party or anything in favour of just hanging out in the common room with some pizza and cake.

And the Titanium Dude movies, which he'd been meaning to check out ever since going to the movies with Kenzi last month.

[ooc: Yes, I know Titanium Man is a Marvel villain, but dude, there are only so many cool-sounding metals out there, so Titanium Dude it is. Food is moddable, CR is open!]

"What are you watching?" LOKI DID NOT APPROVE OF YOUR MOVIE CHOICES, TOBY. DID NOT APPROVE.

"Superhero movie," Toby volunteered. "Based on some comics I sometimes read as a kid, apparently."

Loki gave it a firm look. Because this was clearly foolishness.

"Why is he drunk?"

"I'm... not sure if there's a really good explanation for that, beyond the fact that that's just what he does?" Toby admitted. It was, after all, his first time seeing these movies.

Yes, he'd seen the big epic teamup before seeing the individual films. You shut up.

"You haven't seen it?" Victor checked, glancing up lazily from his chair.

Loki was somewhere in his databases, but he wasn't expecting him to be 12, so the young man triggered no special recognition.

That was both refreshing and terrible. Loki demanded to be feared and adored!

"I do not believe I was alive when it came out." 2008 was sooooo long ago.

That got a bit of a surprised look.

"Technically I'm not sure I was either," Victor said thoughtfully. "I know I remember seeing it, anyhow."

Topher stepped into the room and made a small noise in the back of his throat.

"This is my favorite movie."

And he had NO IDEA WHY.

"Yeah?" Toby grinned. "This is the first time I've seen it."

"Um, it's the best," Topher said, grabbing an unhealthy amount of pizza and flopping down on the couch to watch. "Except for the stupid unnecessary will-they-or-won't-they subplot with his secretary."

Oh, Topher.

"Not a fan of the mushy stuff?" Toby guessed, grateful he'd vastly overestimated the amount of pizza he might need.

"I'm stunned," Victor informed his big brother. "Hi."

"Hey," Topher said, looking up from his really alarming intense stare at the TV screen. "Want some pizza?"

Topher, that was Toby's pizza. Not yours.

"I already got some," Victor said, raising his plate slightly by way of demonstration. "But hey. How's it going?"

"Oh, hey, pizza."

Victor would notice the movie eventually; right now food was priority one.

"Is this for everybody?"

"Absolutely, man," Toby said, gesturing for him to take some. "I made sure to get plenty of extra." He knew how food and common rooms worked, after all.

"Thank you," Victor said, and took a couple pieces of pepperoni before flopping into a chair and finally turning his attention to the screen. "Good movie choice, too."

"Yeah?" Toby checked. "I saw the new one a few weeks ago, and figured I should probably check this one out too."

Pizza and cake? Mercy's nose led her straight to the common room. "Hey, Toby. What's the occasion?"

"What, a guy can't just have pizza and cake because he feels like it?" Toby asked with a grin. "It's my birthday today."

"He can, sure," Mercy agreed with an answering smile, "but usually they stick with just the pizza and no cake."

"Anyway, Happy Birthday!"

"Thanks," Toby replied. "The cake's one of the perks of working at a restaurant, I guess. It was today's special, so I figured I should take advantage of it."

"Ooh, pizza," Petra said as she came into the common room. "And cake? What kind of awesome day is this?"

"My birthday," Toby informed her. "So, naturally: cake. The pizza's just 'cause I like it."

"Toby!" Petra yelped, reaching out to lightly smack him on the shoulder. "You have to tell me things like this in advance! How am I supposed to have presents if I don't know?"!
