The Deck, Thursday Afternoon
It was a nice day, maybe even a little cooler than it had been in a while by the time the late afternoon had rolled around, and Evan didn't have any classes to worry about.
Or homework.
Or, really, much of anything. And, as much as he wanted to just hang out in his room and read in silence, he hadn't really done much getting out since coming to Fandom, either, and had decided that today was a good day to go outside, get some sun, and maybe meet a few people. And if he just so happened to bring a book with him to read while he was waiting for somebody to maybe come outside, well... that was him being productive, see?
Besides, he'd found a book in the library that was all about survivors' accounts of some horrible zombie outbreak, and it was pretty fascinating. He kept saying to himself, 'just one more,' and then moving on to the next chapter each time he finished one. After reaching one chapter in particular, he knew one thing for certain: He was never, ever going to try to escape to Canada.
[Open! I need some happy shiny goodtimes to counteract the fact that Marvel is already making life difficult for this kid.]

He also adjusted the little cape and helmet. BECAUSE IT WAS ADORABLE.

"And you've got a dog dressed up like an Avenger," he countered. So far as counterarguments went, it was... kind of weak. "... He's actually kind of cute."
Yeah, Evan wasn't so great at being contrary.

"Have the Avengers started bringing home mascots, or is this really Thor?"
Because, look, it wasn't every day you got to rub an Avenger's tummy, either.
... And that made it kind of weird.

"It is mine brother Thor, yes." A beat. "I suppose we must be glad he isn't a frog..."
no subject
There might have been a bit of fanboy in that statement, right there. Yep. Evan had a bit of a hero obsession, hidden under all that weird pale Poccyface.
"So... that would make you Loki?" He tilted his head at the other boy thoughtfully, still rubbing Thor's tummy because ohgodpuppygod, and smiled. "I'm Evan. Hi."

"I didn't know Asgardians went to boarding school," he noted, thoughtfully. That Loki was a kid now wasn't really much of a surprise. That he was here, on the other hand... "What brings you here?"
no subject
Kind of.
"They do not. The rest remain in Asgard," Loki replied, taking another picture of Thor to tweet. "I am here because it was the will of my brother that I avoid the more--aggressive of our kinsmen."
Wonder why.
"Are you a mutant then?"
no subject
"I am," he confirmed with a wry little smile. "And I'm here... kind of for the same reason, I guess. I mean, avoiding," Quire, "bullies, back at my last school."
Quire.

God help the X-Men now.

"And you're pretty cool yourself," Evan decided, returning that bright smile. "Have you been here long, Loki?"

The things that came out of Evan's mouth in all seriousness, even.
"How different are things between your worlds, do you know?"

But really, who did?
"I guess there'll be plenty of time to find out, though. He's teaching here for the summer, right?" Evan gave another little smile at the thought. "It must be kind of neat, having family here, even if he's not necessarily the same as the Thor you know."

"My family never seemed to notice," he replied with a little shrug. "Nobody back home ever even seemed to care. But when I left home and went to the Jean Grey School, a lot of people decided that I looked like someone else. Someone... not great. It was kind of jarring."

"He was called Apocalypse," he replied, trying not to mumble. His ma would be so disappointed in him if she found out that he'd taken to mumbling. "I don't know much about him, just what people keep saying and what I managed to open up on the Jean Grey School's villain database, but I guess he was... ancient. Thousands of years old, from Egypt, and he raised himself up to be something almost like a God and he was... He was about as villainous as anybody I could imagine."
And honestly, Evan sounded just a little traumatized just thinking about the things he'd read about the man.

Or something?

Evan was still kind of new to this gig, Loki. Please bear with him.

"I can definitely see that," he decided, giving Thorgi a little 'hello' wave. "He looks like he's got a pedigree in 'loyal protector,' really."

The weetiny resurrected and reformed adorable gods club? Was that a thing?
Could that be a thing?
no subject
"For those dealing with the shadow of our predecessors."
Tony Stark could join.

It would be a pretty epic club, no matter what they did, wouldn't it?
"Prove that we're better than people keep thinking? That we don't want to do terrible things?"

"I've never seen it," he admitted, still grinning a bit. "But I'm kind of bad at staying on top of what people are watching on TV and stuff. My uncle keeps getting disappointed when I don't recognize really old bands that he keeps talking about."
Who was Led Zeppelin supposed to be, anyway?

Because the world Needed To Know.
"I do use the internet," he assured Loki, grinning a little more. "But mostly I just get lost clicking random links on Wikipedia."
It was a dangerous, dangerous place.

Could happen.
"I find myself enthralled with Tumblr. I aspire to one day be a reaction gif."
no subject
"But what kind of reaction? A good one, a bad one? We could just film you eating popcorn, if you really want?"
He didn't know who Led Zep was. But he knew what a popcorn.gif was, damn right.

"Well, we can set aside some time during our club meetings to think about it," Evan decided. Because if they were going to be a club of two, he was totally going to get gung-ho about planning club activities already. "And make sure we've always got a camera handy. My phone has one!"
And a good data plan! For when he wanted to have video calls with Uncle Cluster!
Technology was awesome.

"It will be epic."

Oh yeah. They were already well on the way to besties.
Fear, world. Fear.
