2nd floor common room- Thursday night

There was non-buttered popcorn for sharing. There was also swimming on TV. And there was a Stacey who was trying her best not to look like she was totally ogling the male swimmers, even though she was sooo ogling.

And the guide said there was going to be volleyball too? Best night ever.

[This is what you get. Open CR!]

The Olympics was one of the parts of up-time culture that Ulrik had yet to experience. How convienient, then, that he happened to wander in to the common room at this particular moment.

"What is all this?" he asked, gesturing to the TV.

"I see," he said thoughtfully. He understood patriotism, at least. "Are there any Danish competitors in this race?"

"It seems like quite the spectacle," he mused. "It's really too bad such a thing would not fly in my own time."

"Most of Europe's been embroiled in some conflict or another for... quite a while now," Ulrik explained. "The arrival of Americans a few years ago may have stabilized the area you'd refer to as Germany, but it started other conflicts. I doubt we could get everyone to stop squabbling long enough to participate."

"The French still believe the Americans were sent by Satan," Ulrik commented dryly.

"Well, they did involuntarily travel through time," Ulrik pointed out. "That it was an act of something beyond human comprehension is not an unreasonable assumption. Whether it was an act of god or the devil is really just a matter of interpretation." Or, you know. It was aliens. Not that anyone actually knew that.

"I don't think you are either," he replied, grinning back.

Ulrik. You are engaged. Do not start flirting.

"Well, you've been a very helpful pretend-sibling, answering all my questions," Ulrik pointed out. "Doesn't that count as something nice?"

"I might even be inclined to pay further compliments if you share your popcorn with me," Ulrik added.

Please. Popcorn was new and unfamiliar enough to still be something of a novelty, unflavoured or no. "Precisely what I was thinking," he wiggled his eyebrows at her, grabbing a handful of the snack food.
