Fourth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Well. Two months here and Alec had officially decided: mundie TV programs were alarming.

If it wasn't the reality show with the orange people, it was reruns of the teenybopper program about the girl with the double life, and if it wasn't that, it was Adolescent Mummy, which was... just wrong. Just so many levels of wrong.

Reruns of that were on right now, and Alec sighed and ate his Thai food, counting down the hours until he could go back into the salle and have it be reasonably acceptable again without having creepily spent the entire day there.

It would be at least another two. Three, maybe. Sigh.

The lack of anything that Stannis would have considered acceptable food in the fifth floor common room brought him downstairs to another room, though he had a strong inclination that his search would be unsuccessful down here, too. The scents coming from whatever strange dish the boy already in attendance gave him some form of encouragement, though.

He walked into the room like he had a right to be there, giving a passing, somewhat disdainful glance at the television and the program being played from within, giving a little grunt of distaste. He did, however, manage a somewhat decent, though gruff, greeting of "Good evening" before going to investigate the refrigerator.

"Ooo, is this the second season?" Loki asked, leaning over the couch to watch the epic romance between mummy and mummy hunter.
abitlowkey: (...seriously?)

"Her mother is most threatening with a pencil sharpener," Loki replied knowingly. "And has eyes with more terror than anything found in the dark corners of the universe."

Stannis peered toward the bottom shelf first before he asked, "Is that the food which I'm currently smelling?" He took a deep breath, to pick up the distantly familiar spices and scents. "It reminds me a little of Dornish food..."

And he frowned, teeth grinding, trying to decide if he was going to consider Dornish fare acceptable.

Don't doubt the god of lies, Alec. It was rude.

"Indeed I do!"

"Is this one of those shows where everyone is a moron?"

Hello to you too, Victor. He grabbed an orange from the fridge and elaborated.

"I mean, like where they're always running into the woods when anybody smart would be running out."

"It's in Westros," Stannis supplied stiffly, inspecting a carton and sniffing it with suspicion. "The...land...planet...world...however you care to put it...where I'm from. They're fond of their chilis and spices in Dorne, almost to a fault."

And with that, it became fairly clear that Stannis would not be going in for Thai food tonight. There was a hunk of cheese nearby, though, and he pulled that out for consideration.

"Ooh. I don't think I've seen this one before!" Ulrik. That applied to nearly everything, save for a small subset of pre-2000 fantasy/scifi that Eddie Cantrell had owned on VHS.

Stannis spared some attention away from his quest for decent food for a moment to quirk an eyebrow at Loki. "Are you a fan of this particular miniature mummery, Loki?"

There was no denying the note of faint disapproval in Stannis's voice.

"I guess it'd be sort of fascinating," Victor said, though very dubiously. "You know. He can tell her all about ancient Egypt or whatever."

And this was why Victor didn't have a girlfriend: He actually thought that would be a little cool.

Loki just smiled at that, hopping over the back of the couch to settle in for the show. "I am Loki, by the way. Of Asgard."
abitlowkey: (verily!)

"It is all over my dashboard," Loki replied solemnly. "And a most amusing diversion."

And he liked the love story. SHUT UP.

"Perhaps," Stannis said, deeming the cheese acceptable and now searching for bread that wasn't the awful sliced stuff that seemed to pass for bread around here. "How fortunate that I am used to my brother wolfing down more of our meals like a glutton back home; I'm fairly content with what meager is left."

Ooh, and an onion. At that moment, that onion looked like a very nice addition to his spartan feast.

"Well," Ulrik shrugged. "Most forms of entertainment are bound to produce something that is, as you say, 'trite', eventually. Is it at least enjoyable?" The two weren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

"I suppose it is a distraction of sorts," Stannis allowed, taking a moment to watch about two seconds of it before he frowned with distaste, "though I would much rather spend my time on more useful diversions, myself."

At least the video games Loki had been introducing to him seemed to have a practical, strategic benefit to them.
