Petra had come down after the Student Council meeting to set up the rec room for the Pride meeting, hanging the banner and rainbow flags, and setting up ~~handwavey~~ snacks, including a tray of cupcakes, on a table, along with a jar labeled 'SNACKS! BECAUSE I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY,' which was located in an obvious but not obnoxiously front and center place.

"Hey, everyone!" she said once people appeared to have finished trickling in. "For those of you who don't know me, I'm Petra West, and this is Pride. Which is LGBTQ Pride. For those of you who don't know what that is, I have informational pamphlets, please come see me to get one of those. If this isn't the club you meant to join, no big, you can leave now or you can stay if you want. We have a new faculty sponsor this year, Mr--uh, Thor, so let's all make him feel welcome." Petra thought he might have been drawn by the rainbows, but as long as she had a signature on her club form she was happy. "And please consider throwing whatever you can spare in the snacks jar, if you get a chance.

"So, okay, this week I want to keep everything pretty low-key, and if at any time someone's feeling uncomfortable or like this is not a safe space, please speak up. That said, if someone's feeling uncomfortable or like this isn't a safe space because you're straight and you feel like your straightness is being 'threatened,' you have three options. One, get over it. Two, you might want to think about whether you belong in our Q ranks. Three, there's the door, you know how to use it. That said, I'd like everybody to introduce themselves, give your year, tell us a little about yourself, and you can say why you joined the club if you want to, and then I'd like to hear any ideas you have for things we can do in the club this year. Okay? Okay."

There are cupcakes. Check 'em out?

The first thing Hanna did when she arrived was toss some money into the snack jar. The second thing she did was take a cupcake.

Sparkle was totally here for the cupcakes. Really. He was here because this club was a cupcake-friendly environment and he'd hate to miss out on supporting such excellent snacks, okay?

Yeah. Yeah, that was totally why he was here. And dropping a dollar into the jar as he helped himself to a cupcake.

And eat them!

Nom nom nom nom. Kenzi happily dug in after flopping down.

Introduce yourselves!

"So like I said before, I'm Petra West, and I'm a senior from Rhode Island," Petra said, giving the others a little wave. "I like sewing, reading, and singing, I want to be an actress, I love old Hollywood, and I'm transgender. MTF. Hence founding this fabulous club for us. And jut so you know? I'm a Student Council representative for the senior class, so if you have any concerns or ideas you want to hit me up with, I'm here for that."

"Hey, I'm Hanna Marin, and I'm a senior," Hanna said when it was her turn. "I'm from Pennsylvania, just outside of Philly. I love shopping, fashion, and shoes. I joined because the meetings are fun, and more importantly, because I'm an ally."

Sparkle was not nervous about this, you shut your face. He was squaring his chin, even, emboldened a little when it seemed like nobody was going to jump out from behind a door with a camera to yell 'Surprise!' like this was all some big joke that he'd played right into.

"Sparkle," he said, looking around at the rest of the people in the group, "and yes, that is the name on my birth certificate. I'm a sophomore from Toronto, really into Broadway and old Hollywood," so he figured Petra had damn good tastes, "and, I... guess... I'm here because..." He shrugged, balking some, and then held up what was left of the cupcake he'd grabbed earlier. "... Because I ask you how am I supposed to say no to baking like this?"

It would probably take a little more than a few introductions before he'd get to that point where he could just out and identify himself as the 'G' in the LGBTQ without hesitation, unfortunately.

"Hi ya, I'm Kenzi." She waved a cupcake wrapper at the room. "Senior from Canada. Into muuusic, magic, ways to make money, ways to make out, cool clothes, no idea what I'm going to do when they kick me out of here." More nibbling for a bit. "In a relationship with fellow Canadian Toby, which, wow, we just hit a one-year anniversary, how the hell did that happen. Here to be supportive and stuff."

"Toby Logan," Toby introduced himself ~~right after Kenzi, even~~. "Sophomore from Toronto. I like terrible movies, hockey, and I'm... pretty okay at cooking, I guess?" he shrugged. "I'm here since most of my friends are. So, you know. Support and solidarity and those kinda things."

Karla was polite enough to finish her cupcake before making her introduction. "Hey, I'm Karla," she said with a wave. "I'm a senior and I manage Dite's Decadent Delights in town and just started doing bookkeeping at Cafe Luke's and joined the Student Council. I'm here because I like fema--err," she cleared her throat and shot a quick, apologetic glance at Petra, "--boys and girls pretty much equally."

And, on Fandom, anyway, there was no end of pretty to appreciate regardless of gender preference.

Once he pings in. He's THOR!

Thor was here indeed! And much like lacrosse, he didn't know too many details regarding the club's purpose, but he felt he knew enough to lend his support to what was surely a worthy cause.

... And yes, the rainbows had been what had initially drawn his attention to this particular club. Shh.

I'd hate to end the world at the first meeting.
