Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday evening

After seeing Peter off earlier and giving him whatever was left of a report, Jessica was in a pretty good place. For as similar as they were and as much as she owed him (both for his genetic material in the first place and backing her up against Octavius a few months ago), they had never really spent any time with each other out of costume. It felt kind of great.

But he was going back to his own crazy life at his own crazy high school and she was here. And she needed something to do. Something vaguely social. Fortunately, there was a TV in the common room, there was popcorn, and there was a bad movie on cable starring a guy who was apparently a former Fandom High teacher. Thank you, internet, for that info.

It was the kind of insanely stupid fun that you needed to come down from a strangely emotional weekend.

Once Olive had seen off her parents and Rhiannon, she didn't really want to go anywhere. She wanted to just curl up under her covers and be depressed for the week.

It had been kind of a Weekend. Lots of reasons.

Instead, she sought out a common room with someone in it, and once it was obvious it was someone she knew, she decided she'd just go ahead and stay here. She was forcing herself to be social.

So she waved vaguely at Jessica as she wandered in, then promptly flung herself down on a couch, face-first and limp.

So. Given value of 'social' at work, here.

Olive peeled herself up off the couch, blowing out a breath. "Peachy," she sighed. "I just sent my parents and Rhi off. Is your cousin gone, too?"

"My parents weren't that bad," Olive offered, pulling herself up into an upright position. "But Rhiannon's like a human tornado. Your cousin seemed nice, though. Talked to him a little bit."

"He's not like, hideous," Olive said, making a face. "But he looked too much like you for my taste. It'd be weird."

So Olive was apparently just going to offer her opinion there, anyway.

"So yeah. She did basically that to everyone. Less about your cousin, though, more about...whatever would be worst for me to deal with later."

Olive made a face, getting up to go grab some ice cream out of the freezer. "She just messed up something for me, probably," she said vaguely. "Stupid stuff. Plus she hooked up with one of my friends and called me names the whole weekend. She's my best friend but, you know."

Maybe Olive needed to reevaluate the whole 'friendship' thing.

"It was just exhausting. This weekend doesn't count as a weekend."

Sia had had a strange weekend even for someone who hadn't had visitors, and once she thought everyone should be gone, then she wanted to be around people again.

Of course, she was giving the TV all the side eye in the world.

"I appreciate that assessment," Sia said, taking a seat. "What is this, exactly?"

She was like this about most movies, really.

"It sounds like all you need to watch for are the explosions."

And that was why Sia was like this with like most movies.

This was why Sia liked you, Jessica.

"That makes me want to watch," she said. "For five minutes, perhaps."

"I can guarantee I will not become addicted to this," Sia told her. "Absolutely guarantee it."

Olive had stopped being face-first on the couch by the time Sia arrived. Now, instead, she was eating from a gallon-sized carton of ice cream in her lap.

Shut up, she was allowed.

"Did you have a fun weekend?" she asked, a little glumly but making the effort not to be.

Sia paused. "It was strange," she decided. "You didn't?"

Empath, here.

"Kind of a mixed bag," Olive replied, eating some ice cream. "Did my mom horrify you last night? Is that part of why it was strange? Because I would understand that."

"I met my alternate reality great-grandparents who are only dating in their timeline on the way to the party," Sia said. "Your mother was very nice, actually."

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-10-01 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Olive was just going to stare at that. "I swear, this place," she said. "So good for putting my issues in perspective. Wanna grab a spoon?" She held out the ice cream, shrugging a little.

Sia shook her head. "Mine was strange, but not bad. I think you need it more than I do," she said. "What happened?"

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-10-01 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Rhiannon," she said, shrugging. "Just imagine your conversation, but with everyone I know, and sometimes worse. I didn't need that in my life. My little brother was supposed to come, but noooo, that'd be too easy." She poked at her ice cream. "Was it...like, interesting seeing your great-grandparents, at least? Or just weird?"
