The Deck | Wednesday Afternoon
Jim really loved getting his classes over and done with at the beginning of the week. It left him so much time to do absolutely nothing of consequence. Sure, that sometimes led to boredom but Jim was a good hand at entertaining himself and finding things to do.
It was a little too cool to sunbathe on the deck but that wasn't going to stop him from planting himself on one of the loungers with a cold drink and some food he'd picked up from town. He hadn't actually had Chinese in a long time. It wasn't that prevalent in the wide open spaces of Iowa. Most of the time, he'd been left to fend for himself which meant sweets and food he could con the locals out of.
This was definitely better. His funds were starting to run a little low so he was going to have to do something about that especially with this party thing coming up this weekend but he had enough to get by till then.
Maybe he'd think about getting a job. Wouldn't his daddy be proud of that thought?
[Deck is open, of course]

The little wave at Jim when she wandered onto the deck came a little less awakwardly than before. "Hey, Jim."

It was going to be cold and a little darker than she'd have liked.

Granted, 'Fandom winter' could also mean powdered sugar falling from the sky. "It'll be interesting."

Basically she was lucky to even own tops that didn't bare her midriff.

She was trying to get better about being open about the fact that she had them, at least.

But, she also wanted to prove all those theories wrong, so she slipped her bracelet off. There was an immediate change in her appearance, spreading quickly from her wrist onwards. And yes, glowing in shifting hues of pink and blue and yellow all over her skin and hair? Eye-catching, wasn't it?
She chewed on her lip.

"Cooooool," he managed to say after finding his voice again.

"Thanks. It's pretty nice."

It was hard to put it into words.

To do with her heritage, but she shared that with very few people.
