Cade hadn't noticed anything was different yet today, which was why he'd gone through his normal Saturday morning routine: thinking about jogging (deciding not to), shower, then into the common room for a box of Cocoa Puffs in front of whatever was on the television at the time.

It was a thrilling life Cade led here. He was (weirdly, for him) more interested in hearing about your day today.

Sparkle was doing a hell of a job of not flat-out pouting.

"I bet it would be handy if the dorms were burning down and somebody left their cat in their room or something," he mumbled. Because that was clearly an everyday happenstance and he'd totally get to make some sort of practical use of that before the weekend was through. Sure.

"Maybe you can also start fires." That was totally a power.

"Yeah, I can do that," Sparkle replied, still looking grumpy. "With my lighter."

Tony gave him a sympathetic look before pressing a cup of coffee on him. Like it was a total hardship. "If it helps, I don't have any powers."

"A little," Sparkle grumbled as he took the coffee and dabbled his fingers in it dejectedly. "Except then you take into account that you're also, like, obscenely rich and stupidly smart," because that made sense, "and all I can do is sit on a stove burner."

"And rescue cats," Tony replied, pouring his own sweet, sweet ambrosia. "Pretty sure you were awesome before being able to do that too."

"Man, I am the king of rescuing cats, unless they're stuck up in trees or something. And then that's a job for the people who were supposed to be fighting the fire that I rescued the cat from before kitty got himself stuck up in a tree."

Even the fire department could do more than Sparkle. Damn it.

"Oh, shit," Sparkle replied, his eyes going wide. "That would be so frigging awesome."

It was entirely possible that Sparkle had set very low standards for himself in life.

"Until I see Topher flying around again," Sparkle decided. "Totally awesome power again."

Someday, he'd be able to fly. Maybe.

Probably not.

But he'd keep telling himself that.

Flying was pretty awesome. "Maybe do that fire juggling from Hawaii?"

"Wearing the grass skirt and doing the dancing, you mean?"

Don't tempt him, Tony. He'd totally do it.

"See, and here I was just telling Olive that I was thinking of dancing in a bonfire on the beach or something, just because I still can."

A beat.

"Hot coals! I could totally walk on hot coals!"
