Second Floor Common Room, Saturday morning

There was a pitching booth set up in the common room this morning. More or less. A couple of tables had been dragged into a corner, there were pyramids of canned vegetables set up for people to knock down, and there were a bunch of oranges in a bowl (do you know how hard it is to scavenge up baseballs on short notice?) next to a sign that read "HiT A tARGiT WiN A PRiSe".

The box labeled "pRYZeS" was shut, with Bucky standing on top. What was in it? It was a mystery!

"Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and try out your aim! How good can you throw?! Win stuff! ...C'mon, dumbasses, what's taking you so long?"

[No, Bucky has no new powers this weekend. You should all be thankful for that. Enjoy the common room!]

After an incident in their room that had involved Sholeh accidentally cutting herself only to have the wound close right before her eyes, their youngest sister was curled up and hiding right now. Zhahar was soothing her and trying to find a reasonable explanation for things, which left Zeela in control of the body. And since the cat was out of the bag about them sometimes wandering around the dorms anyway, Zeela figured that she might as well take advantage of it and explore.

So far, her explorations had found her in a common room with the crazy cat from some of Sholeh's classes.

"Your spelling sucks," she informed...it? Him? Whatever?

Way to ignore that there is a cat that can speak and write, Zeela. Good job.

"How do I know I want whatever's in your crappy prize box?" Zeela demanded. "You're a cat, what do you know about good rewards. For all I know, hitting those cans might give me a mouse head or something, ugh!"

Why, yes, she was immature enough to pick a fight with a cat. Thank you for asking.

It was morning! Morning, and Evan had woken up hungry, and, thinking that he might find a less crazy place to cook some breakfast and maybe to some reading, he'd made his way down the stairs from the third floor to the second, hoping that there was something in the fridge down there.

The setup in this common room wasn't really what he'd been expecting, either.

"I'm pretty good at throwing things," he noted, looking curiously at Bucky and his prize box. "My uncle and I used to play catch all the time, and I was on the baseball team back home."

Maeby was bored, and didn't know that today was anything special. Hooray for sitting in her room playing on her GameBoy.

And now, she was bored, so she was traipsing down into the common room. One where that bizarre talking cat was ... holding his own carnival.

"No way," she said, shaking her head. "No way this isn't rigged."

With an orange? Easy. Evan smiled, walked over to the bowl, and reached for a piece of fruit.

... And then he hesitated, and glanced at the cat.

"What are you charging for this?"

Bucky was not a nice cat, Evan was learning from sharing classes with him here and there. It was probably best to check these things up front.

"I like fun," Zeela argued. "I just don't trust that you do."

She was almost tempted to ask how much for a throw, but if he wasn't going to say up front, he could deal with her getting a few throws in for free. She reached down to swipe and orange from the bowl--and missed the orange.

Okay, that was weird.

"That's because he's an idiot," Maeby said helpfully.

"Hey, Evan," Zeela said, examining an orange. That had been weird, right? The whole passing-through-it-without-touching-it thing? Weird?

Yeah, Zeela was gonna go with weird. So much so that she was going to forget that she wasn't actually supposed to know who Evan was. Oops.

"Most cats are," Zeela said with a dramatic sigh. She was much more a dog person, herself. "He just takes it to extremes."

"Don't bother," Maeby said. "He's probably trying to trick people."

Wow, this kid apparently liked that Raven (http://fhmeta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Raven) movie a little too much. Someone needed to tell Goths to go easy on the facepaint.

"Riiiight," Maeby said, turning as if she was going to leave. "Are we done here?"

[identity profile] 3girls-1core.livejournal.com 2012-11-17 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"What did you do to these oranges?!" Zeela snapped, trying to grab another one and watching her fingers pass right through it. "You flea-bitten little weasel, what are you up to?"

Evan wasn't completely convinced, but he reached for an orange all the same.

"So you're just doing this for free?"

Free, Evan could handle. A gig in the library wasn't exactly providing him with oodles of spare coin, after all.

"Um... hi!" Evan blinked over at the girl, offering her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I don't know your name."

A smile and a blush, at that.

"But I'm sure we've seen one another around, right?"

... He didn't sound so sure about that.
genesishero: (Smiling!)

"Trick people?" Evan blinked at the girl, and then offered her a tiny smile and a shrug to match. "I think I can handle a cat. I mean... he's kind of tiny."

Sorry, Bucky.

"I thought cats were the ones that were evil, and dogs were stupid," Maeby said. Not quibbling, just confused. Thanks, Hollywood stereotypes.
