So, Gert, being Gert, had had no interest in going to prom. As it happened, Gert, being a sophomore, had no permission to go to prom either, so that worked out well, but she maintained that it was the lack of interest that was the reason she wasn't there right now.

Anyway, even as sulky and inescapably turned-on as she was, she regarded this decision as a perfectly valid lifestyle choice, and so was the way she was currently hiding out in the rec room, playing some game that seemed like Tetris but with dragons and lasers. She'd never really been a video game person, and was even less of one after the whole Alex fiasco, but she needed to blow off some steam, and getting really loud and annoyed at a video game seemed like as good a way as any to do that.

Sholeh had never been out on the roof before. But when you asked someone for help fulfilling homework assignment and their suggested means of transportation was 'jet pack,' the roof seemed like the best place to start.

Or, at least it did once you looked up what a jetpack actually was.

So, bundled up in her warmest coat and thickest skirts, Sholeh was admiring the view from the roof and boggling a little that soon she'd be seeing the whole island from this vantage.

*Aren't you scared?* Zhahar asked nervously. *To be flying up so high?*

::Are you kidding?:: Sholeh replied, grinning. ::This is so exciting!::

It was their sixteenth birthday today. Sholeh hadn't told anyone because she couldn't think of a way to do so without it coming across as self-aggrandizing. What was one supposed to do? Just walk up to random people and announce that it was your birthday? Wasn't that a little...rude?

It had been her plan to spend the rest of the day curled up with a new book she'd gotten as a birthday gift for herself, but Zhahar had pointed out that it was their birthday, too, and surely her sisters deserved a little something for willingly remaining in the background for weeks at a time. Which was how Sholeh had ended up in the common room, making cream cheese caramel brownies. Unsure of the recipe, even with Zhahar whispering directions in her ear, Sholeh had decided to make multiple batches just to make sure she ended up with enough to share with her sisters.

The only problem with making a lot in preparation of failure? When you actually succeeded, you ended up with more than you bargained for. A lot more. Sholeh was pretty sure they couldn't eat all of the brownies she'd made even divided among the three of them.

Well, maybe...

Okay, yeah probably not.

There was a pitching booth set up in the common room this morning. More or less. A couple of tables had been dragged into a corner, there were pyramids of canned vegetables set up for people to knock down, and there were a bunch of oranges in a bowl (do you know how hard it is to scavenge up baseballs on short notice?) next to a sign that read "HiT A tARGiT WiN A PRiSe".

The box labeled "pRYZeS" was shut, with Bucky standing on top. What was in it? It was a mystery!

"Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and try out your aim! How good can you throw?! Win stuff! ...C'mon, dumbasses, what's taking you so long?"

[No, Bucky has no new powers this weekend. You should all be thankful for that. Enjoy the common room!]

Olive had set up the first floor lobby to accommodate the inaugural meeting of the pajama club -- setting up in this case meant making sure that there were plenty of comfy pillows and fuzzy fleece throws on the sofas, and that there was a Real Housewives marathon going on the television. On a table to the side, she'd set up a variety of cereal (though pretty much everything was colorful or chocolately or sugary. No Raisin Bran for you. Who were you people, who wanted like, Chex at Pajama Club?) as well as some milk and a set of bowls. Since it was still relatively warm out, Olive's pajamas were not particularly cozy, but they were, at least, pretty cute.

"Welcome to Pajama Club," she said, once pretty much everyone was assembled. "I'm Olive, if you didn't already know. And I'll be honest, this mostly started as a joke but I'm kind of super-glad that so many people turned out. Um, for our first meeting, I figured we'd do introductions and maybe you could share why you joined? Oh, and your favorite type of cereal, so I know what to get for meetings."

It was raining.

It was not raining very hard, but it was definitely raining at the insane time the sirens went off across the school. The lawn outside was slowly but surely turning into a wet mess, and the grass was just high enough in some places that it might leave wet splotches on an unsuspecting passer-by's pants.

Clearly this was a great time for a fire drill.

It was clearly also a great time to test the new volume on the sirens, which blared even harder than they had ever done before. Hope you didn't have to take any tests in the morning, kids!

[[ has a firedrill! students, have at. ]]

Sholeh was dealing fairly well with the cabins. She was used to sharing close quarters, even if normally it was just with her sisters. Never being alone made for usual ideas about space and privacy. Sharing a tent with a swan--though Lucrezia was a very well-behaved and gentle swan--was something new entirely.

And so were s'mores. Tasty, tasty s'mores.

The light from the campfire was bright enough to read by, and Sholeh was alternating between making s'mores for herself and feeding Lucrezia strips of bread.
