Fifth floor common room [afternoon]

Rilla was rapidly learning that the fifth floor common room wasn't nearly as childproof as she remembered.

"Jims, don't pull that wire!"

"Jims, don't open those drawers, please!"
"Jims, off of the countertop."

She finally got him distracted with some fingerpaints (which, for the time being at least, were staying on paper and not on Rilla's dress, the sofa, or the coffee table) and got herself a soothing cup of tea and got back to knitting a sock.

It had been so much easier when Jims had slept all the time.

"I didn't take that one. I just don't trust classes with cake themes anymore," Jessica said cryptically.

"There's either a story there or you're just playing on the new kid's new-kiddish-ness," Kate decided.

"There was a really weird gym class... It's complicated. Let's just say that cake-based deception is something that has been done," Jessica said.

"As long as the cake-deception doesn't actually involve exploding cakes, I think trauma can be avoided," she said.

She snickered. "They should totally have you write the brochures here. It'd be awesome."

"I've always thought my future was in the writing and distribution of pamphlets," Jessica said. "I'll call it 'Fandom High: Deal with the Weirdness.'"
